Funeral services for John Allen Clayton, 59, of Tilden, who died at his home on March 10, 1944, were held at the Union Grove Church of Christ on March 11. Burial was in the Union Grove Cemetery with Hawkins and Son in charge. He was a leader in his community and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the I.A.H.S., on which he had served for several years.
Survivors included his wife; one son, Howard Clayton of Kenosha, Wisc.; two daughters, Mrs. Hershel Wallace and Mrs. Voy Anthony, both of Fulton; one brother, Albert Clayton of Mo., seven sisters, Mrs. Dolphus Riggs, Mrs. Holley Gray, Mrs. Guy Clifton, all of Fulton, Mrs. Jim Davis of Nettleton, Mrs. Walter Jamison of Itasca, Texas, Mrs. Ellis Pierce of Amory and Mrs. Nathan Welch of Alabama.
