Elizabeth Stanley, daughter of Thos. or Wm. Stanley of Knocklyn, married about 1635
one Charles Lloyd of Dolobrau and had a son, Thomas Lloyd, First Deputy
Governor and President of the Provincial Council of Pennsylvania, 1664-1693.
It is evident, from tradition and corresponding dates, that John Stanley,
the first of the name to come to America, was a brother of this Elizabeth
Stanley, and, being a younger son, came to America with his sister and her
