BANKSTON, Iowa -- Dan H. Kruse, 47, of Bankston, was pronounced dead on arrival at 6 pm Saturday at St. Mary's Unit of Mercy Health Center in Dyersville, as a result of a pickup truck and car accident on a Dubuque County road.
Services will be at 11 am Tuesday at St. Clement's Catholic Church in Bankston, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call until 10 pm Monday at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where the parish scripture wake service will be held at 7:30 pm and Farley Knights of Columbus rosary at 8:30 pm Monday.
Mr. Kruse was born in Petersburg, Iowa, and farmed in the Bankston area. He also owned and operated the Bankston Feed Store from 1957-80. He was a member of St. Clement's Holy Name Society, Farley Knights of Columbus Council No. 2001, the Dubuque County Fair Board for 10 years and served as manager of the Dubuque County Fairgrounds for the past three years. He was a leader in the Bankston 4-H Club for the past 16 years and was a member of the Iowa Feed and Grain Association, Duroc Swine Register and Pork Producers Association.
Surviving are his wife, the former Rose Mary Elgin; four sons, Kevin of Epworth, Iowa, Karl of Dyersville, Iowa, and Kelly and Phillip, both at home; two daughters, Karen Kruse of Minneapolis, Minn., and Pamella, at home; one granddaughter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kruse Sr. of New Vienna, Iowa, and two brothers, Henry Jr. and Ronald, both of Dyersville.
A son, Kerry, died April 23, 1971.
A Dan Kruse Memorial Fund has been established.

NEW VIENNA, Iowa -- Henry L. Kruse, 81, of New Vienna, died Thursday morning, May 20, 1993, at home.
Services will be at 1 pm Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 pm today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 pm followed by a senior citizen rosary.
Mr. Kruse and his wife farmed in the New Vienna area for 35 years. He later worked for the town of New Vienna for eight years.
He was born on Jan. 10, 1912, in Petersburg, son of Henry and Mary (Meyer) Kruse. He married Evelyn M. Pasker on Jan. 22, 1935; she survives.
He was president of New Vienna Insurance for many years, a 4-H leader and a trustee of the St. Boniface Cemetery. He was a member of the St. Boniface Holy Name Society and the New Vienna Senior Citizens.
Also surviving are two sons, Ronald L., of Dyersville, and Henry Jr. of New Vienna; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard "Dick," of Dubuque; and a sister, Bernice Klostermann of Petersburg.
He was preceded in death by four sons, Daniel, Richard, David and Robert, a granddaughter and a grandson.

NEW VIENNA, Iowa - Evelyn M. Kruse, 92, of New Vienna, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at the Ellen Kennedy Living Center, Dyersville, following a brief illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with the Rev. Phil Kruse and the Rev. John O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church, where an Altar and Rosary Society and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary rosary will be recited at 4 p.m., and a parish scripture service will be at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, is in charge of arrangements. She was born on May 10, 1911, in Adrian, Minn., daughter of William H. and Ceceilia (Fangman) Pasker. She married Henry L. Kruse Sr. on Jan. 22, 1935, in Colesburg; he preceded her in death in 1993. Evelyn was a homemaker, and thoroughly enjoyed her family. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Boniface Rosary Society, Senior Citizens Center, VFW Auxiliary, Heritage House and New Vienna Prayer Group. Surviving are two sons, Henry A. (Doris) Kruse Jr., of New Vienna, and Ronald L. (Mary Lou) Kruse, of Dyersville; 17 grandchildren, Kevin, Karl, Kelly, Karen, Pam, Phil, Terry, Randy, Tammy, Janice, Judy, Lynn, Shelly, Craig, Kim, Ted and Tony; six great-grandchildren, Kendra, Kayla, Danielie, Luke, Shawn and Dawn; a great-great-grandchild, Kristen; a brother, Wilfred (Delores) Pasker, of Dyersville; a sister, Margret (Jerry) Vondran, of Galena, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Agnus Pasker, of Dyersville.
