Funeral for Betty Marie Reser, 85, of Lawton, will be at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Schneider, senior pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Reser passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, in Lawton.
Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Betty was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Greer County, to Emil A. and Annie A. Kretzschmar Petzold. She grew up in Greer County and graduated from Granite High School. She was a member of the 4-H Club for 10 years and helped establish the Great Plains Extension Club, where she served as the first president. Betty married Thomas Dale Reser on June 16, 1947, in Wellington, Texas. They lived in El Paso, Texas, and then moved to Silver City, N.M., where they owned and operated the Borden Milk Distribution. They later came to Lawton and Mrs. Reser merchandised health and beauty aids for Herbs Discount Foods and also merchandised for American Greetings for nine years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one son, Larry Reser, of Cedar Valley, Okla.; one daughter, Karen and her husband Alfred Espinoza, of Lawton; one grandson, Jason Reser and his wife Nichole, of Arcadia, Okla.; three granddaughters: Christi Fowler and her husband Keith, of Oklahoma City; Kelly Mitchell, and her husband Garrad, of Marietta, Ga.; and Carrie Glover and her husband Jarrod, of Lawton; two great-grandchildren: Zach Reser and Finley Reser, both of Arcadia; her sister, Margie Martin, of Gaithersburg, Md.; her brother and sister-in-law, William and Joyce Petzold, Granite; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sue Petzold, of Childress, Texas; J. B. Reser and his wife Beverly, of Granite; and Mary Lou Shults, of Del City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Reser was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Dale Reser; her brothers: Donald R. Petzold and Herman Petzold; and one great-grandson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 102 SW 7th, Lawton 73501.
