Irene Edna Glaser was born May 12, 1915, to August and Nettie (Lauf) Glaser in Marion, N.D. She attended schools in Marion and LaMoure, N.D., before moving with her family to Oakes, where she finished her schooling.
She married Elmer Zimbelman on June 30, 1936, in Oakes. They lived in Valley City, N.D., until 1939, when they moved to Oakes. She worked for North American Creamery in Oakes for many years. In 1942 they moved to a farm west of Oakes. In 1964 they moved to Roseburg, Ore., returning to Oakes in 1979.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Roseburg and St. John's Lutheran Church in Oakes. She was also an active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and enjoyed camping and gardening.
Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Edna Salmen and Martha Hankel; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, her parents, four brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
