During the past several years he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Kate Krause, at German Valley, near Titonka, Kossuth county, Iowa. A short time previous to his more recent illness that resulted in death, he had sustained a slight stroke of paralysis. He was well known in Ackley and throughout Grundy county as well as in Kossuth county, having lead a life of activity, and he had served in various public official capacities. He was well preserved for his years, well along in the eighties, and had the bearing of a man full twenty years his junior, and he was alert to the end. He was the brother of Stephen Tjaden, deceased, who lived near Algona, and of Mrs. Ben Barger (also deceased) and Mrs. Henry Althouse, of this city. Funeral services were held at German Valley Tuesday afternoon. A more detailed reference of his life will be made in the succeeding issue of the World-Journal | Tjaden, Kobus (I119551)
