Mr. Eastman died Wednesday in a Boise nursing home of causes related to age. He was 78. He was born to Carl and Inette Eastman on Oct. 20, 1915, in Minneapolis, where he lived much of his childhood. He moved to Portland as a teen-ager and lived in the area for nearly 50 years. He worked as a furniture salesman for Meier & Frank and other Portland companies before retiring in the late 1980s. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. He married Billie Pudwill in the 1940s; she died in the late 1980s. Survivors include two sisters, Catherine E. Whitney of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Elizabeth E. Swoyer of Boise, and a brother, the Rt. Rev. A. Theodore Eastman of Baltimore. She was confirmed at the Avon Lutheran Church and received her schooling from the Giedd School at rural Avon. On June 3, 1941 she married Reuben Buchholz. After moving to Mitchell she became a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She taught children Sunday School for over twenty years and then after that she joined the ladies circle where she helped make quilts and baby layettes to send to missions overseas. She had a beautiful soprano voice and loved to sing the many familiar hymns. For numerous years she was employed in the drapery and fine furnishing department at Johnson's Furniture. She is survived by one son, Curtis Buchholz and his wife, Carole of Soldotna, Alaska, and a son-in-law, Fred Smith Jr. of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren: Bill Smith, Dixie Beebe, Kristina Buchholz, and Jon Buchholz and four great-grandchildren: Zach, Jordan, Troy and Taylor. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 3, at First Baptist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Paul Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bismarck Funeral Home. Viola was born July 21, 1919, to Theodore and Anna (Pudwill) Donner in Danzig. She attended country grade school and graduated from Wishek High School in 1937. Viola married Milton Diede, Dec. 28, 1939. They resided in Venturia, until the illness of her mother. They then lived on the family farm south of Wishek to help take care of her mother and help with the farm. After the death of her mother, they moved to Jamestown and lived there until 1948 when they moved to Bismarck. Three children were born to this union. Viola was an accomplished seamstress and worked for Arrowhead Cleaners for 40 years and was still doing sewing for people until her recent illness. She was very active in First Baptist Church, serving on different committees. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (Armin) Sayler, Turtle Lake, and Sue (Dwight) Reuther, Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Valarie Buchholz, Tuttle, Deanna Buchholz and special friend, Chad Muth, Steele, Christy (Josh) Mehlhoff, Bismarck, Heather (Courtney) Brown, Lincoln, Shelly (Travis) Watson, Bismarck, Rhonda (Scottie) Rohrich, Bismarck, and Jon Reuther and special friend, Danni Berry, Bismarck; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Jamison, Spring Lake, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton; son, Terry Diede; her twin sister, Violet Kaseman; her sister, Martha Beveridge; and brothers-in-law, Grant Beveridge, Stewart Jamison and Julius Kaseman. | Donner, Viola (I136316)

Virginia was born March 4, 1924 in Cleveland, ND, the daughter of Edward and Magdelena (Eissinger) Trautmann. She attended school in Medina and graduated as valedictorian from Medina High School with the class of 1942. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo and Central Commercial College in Jamestown. Virginia was employed at the John Deere Jamestown Implement store for 48 years as a bookkeeper. Virginia was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Jamestown and the American Legion Auxiliary. Virginia is survived by a sister, LaVerne (Martin) Dahl of West Fargo, ND; one brother, Robert D. (Pat) Trautmann of Rutherfordton, NC; six nieces and one nephew. After graduation from high school she taught in a rural school for four years. In 1921 the deceased was graduated from York College, where she met her future husband, the late Dr. Edward Sayler. She continued her teaching career as instructor of Math and Science at the Polytechnic Institute, San German, Porto Rico; in Stillwater, Minnesota and in Grangeville, Idaho. She and Edward Sayler were married September 22, 1924. They lived in Talladega, Alabama for thirteen years, where husband was professor of sociology in Talladega College. In 1941 the family moved to Yankton, South Dakota and Dr. Sayler became Dean of the School of Theology of Yankton College. Kathryn Sayler has been active in the Congregational Women's Fellowship; Faculty Dames at Yankton College; A.A.U.W. and P.E.O. organizations. She supported her husband in his belief in education, training Christian ministers, and in the organization of the new seminary, The United Theological Seminary at Minneapolis, Minnesota. After Mr. Sayler's death in 1961, she continued her interest and contacts with college students and the alumni of the School of Theology. She attended the dedication of U.T.S. in New Brighton June 16, 1963. After an illness of several weeks, she passed away January 8, 1964. Her survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William Wilkerson of Cheney, Washington; a son, Stanley Sayler of Denver, Colorado, three grandchildren, a sister, Hazel Stowe of Oakland, California; a brother, Frank Stowe of Ontario, Oregon, and a host of dear friends.
