Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mott, ND. Rev. John Amundson will officiate and burial will follow at the Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott. Special music will be provided by Janelle Brackel and MiChelle Finck. Serving as casketbearers are Frank Miller, Kelly Messmer, Matt Schmidt, Pat Schmidt, Blyth Sprecher, and Claire Maas. All relative and friends are considered Honorary Bearers. A memorial has been established to Trinity Lutheran Church in Mott. Alvin Elmer Wiedmer was born August 5, 1928 on a farm north of New Leipzig, ND to Fred and Ida (Auch) Wiedmer. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church north of New Leipzig by Rev. Rudolph Huepel. Alvin attended a country school near his home. Alvin was united in marriage to Alice Brackel on August 20, 1948 at the Wiedmer residence by Rev. Briest of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Leipzig. They began their life together on the Wiedmer farm where they lived for a year. They moved to Mott where Alvin worked construction including building of the Playhouse Theatre and the Mott nursing home. They moved to a farm for a short time and in 1952 moved back into Mott where Alvin began working for Elmer Wentlandt, the Standard Oil Bulk dealer. From 1952 to 1960, he drove bulk delivery truck. Many of the children waited for him to deliver fuel because he always had bubble gum and candy for them. On March 1, 1960, Alvin began working for the Mott Equity. He started out working the sales floor and later on working into all aspects of the business and served as General Manager of the business from 1984 until retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, restoring Tonka toys, and during the summer months, working in his yard. He also enjoyed reading a good book, especially westerns. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mott. Alvin had a very strong work ethic which he carried throughout his life. He often talked about growing up during the Dirty Thirty's and how tough times were. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Grateful for having shared in Alvin's life are his wife, Alice, of Mott, two daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Dennis Hummel, Mott,ND; Tracy and Leslie Ivarie, Hartley, IA; three grandchildren, Shannon Hummel, Jason (Rebecca) Hummel and Tonie Ivarie (fiance Maroni Toone); five great grandchildren, Noah Nelson, Carter and Mataya Holtz and Adwyn and Astrid Hummel; two brothers and five sisters-in-law, Harold and Judy Wiedmer, Harry and Maryann Wiedmer, all of Tioga, ND, Judy Wiedmer, AZ, Loris Wiedmer, Sidney, MT, Irene Wiedmer, Kansas; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Edna and Donald Hanson, Walla Walla, WA, Thelma Rucker, Montgomery, TX and Helen Metz, Bismarck, ND, and a brother-in-law; Ervin Brackel, Kalispell, MT; and many nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers and one sister-in-law, Rueben, Norman, Toby and Tony Wiedmer, two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Elsie and Leonard Long and Floraine and Elmer Sprecher, and Arnold Metz, and a grandson, Christopher Ivarie. Schwindt, 79, Moorhead, Minn., passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead. Ruth Minnie Bettenhausen was born on November 14, 1928, to William and Albina (Kramer) Bettenhausen in Wishek, ND, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She then moved to Bismarck, ND, where she attended nursing school. On Nov. 26, 1948, Ruth married Milton Schwindt in Mandan, ND. The couple moved to Moorhead where Milton co-owned Abbott-Arne and Schwindt Construction Company. They were members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Moorhead, where Ruth was an active member in the choir as she had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Some of Ruth's hobbies included golf, painting, playing piano and gardening. Ruth and Milton also had a lake cabin on Big Cormorant and Pelican Lake where they enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. Milton died on March 20, 1998. Ruth continued to make her home in Moorhead. She became a resident of Eventide in 2004. She is survived by her six children, David and Rollin, both of Rustad, Minn.; Mic, Patrick (Heidi), and Steven (Joanna), all of Moorhead; and Michelle Wang of Fargo, ND; 11 grandchildren, Cole (fiancée Jan Ridler), Cody ( Katie), Charley, Mirannda, Simon, Matt, Will, Sam, Luke, Jada, Jillian; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Alexis and Ella; and one brother, Roy Bettenhausen of Baker, Mont.
