Milledgeville-- Mrs. Elizabeth Overholser, Portland, Oregon, and formerly of Milledgeville, died Sunday morning at the Portland Sanatorium Hospital where she had undergone surgery last week.
She was born in Wysox Township on April 1, 1882 the daughter of Charles and Barbara Ackerman Garwick and spent most of her life in this area, moving to Portland in 1960, She married Dr. John Overholser and he passed away many years ago. She was the organist at the Milledgeville Methodist Church of which she was a member. She was also the librarian at the Mary Fletcher library for over 30 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gretchen Kirkey of Portland, with whom she resided; a son, J. Dwight of Champaign, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Woodin Funeral Home in Milledgeville with the Rev. Clare Hewitt officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday morning at he funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in her home.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs. E. Overholser
Milledgeville-- Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Overholser, a former Milledgeville resident who died Sunday at Portland, Oregon, were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Woodin Funeral Home in Milledgeville. Rev. Clare Hewitt, pastor of the Milledgeville Methodist Church, officiated at the service. Mrs. William Maxfield sang “What A Friend.” Mrs. G. H. Wolber was at the organ.
John Hubbard, Kenneth Overholser, Marvin Carbaugh, Wilbert Nicholson, Chester Linton, and Chester Lenhart, all of Coleta, and all nephews of the deceased served as pallbearers.
The lovely floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. Arden Deets, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kreider, and Mrs. H. R. Pilgrim.
Interment was at Bethel Cemetery.

Sam Hawbaker, 65, of Dallas Center, IA, died of cancer on Wednesday, May 21, 1997.
He lived his whole life in the Dallas Center area and was a farmer. He was also a Korean War Navy veteran. His memberships included the Heartland Coop, the Dallas Center American Legion, the Iowa Pork Producers and the Dallas County Pork Producers.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, one of Cedar Rapids, IA, and two of Dallas Center; a daughter of Orlando, FL; three sisters, one of Arnolds Park; one of Indianapolis, IN; and Pearl Gerich of Arroyo Grande, CA; a brother of Bella Vista, AR; and six grandchildren.

Albert Wenz, age 92, of Huron, and formerly of Alpena, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at SunQuest Healthcare Center.
His funeral service was Thursday, September 1, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Huron with burial and military honors by the Huron Veteran’s Council at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Al was born on October 31, 1923 in Miller, SD to Martin and Caroline (Losing) Wenz. Al served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Philippines during WWII and after his honorable discharge, he returned to South Dakota.
Al married Fern Lehr on September 25, 1949 in Wessington Springs.
The couple made their home and started their family on a couple of farms in Beadle County until 1964 when they purchased the grocery store in Wessington and operated Wenz Grocery. In the 1970’s they owned and operated Wenz Grocery in Woonsocket. They also owned and operated Wenz Implement in Alpena.
Al loved horses, gardening, fishing, dancing, playing cards, mechanics, and attending auctions. Al was a member of the United Church of Christ in Alpena and now the United Parish of Alpena.
Al is survived by his three sons, Steve (Debbie) Wenz of Huron, Ryan (Barb) Wenz of Huron, and Donavin (Donna) Wenz of Red Bluff, CA; seven grandchildren, Shelley (Dan) Frisch, Ashton (Aaron) Siebrecht, Christi (Jim) Danburg, Tim (Nichole) Wenz, Nathan (Victoria) Wenz, Nicholas Wenz, and Jennifer (Dan) Groenewold; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva Vilhauer of Huron, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fern of 66 years in 2015; 1 great grandchild, Brooke Groenewold; 6 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Peter Schorzmann was born on 28 March 1878 at Dakota Territory. He was the son of Heinrich Schorzmann and Magdalena Stoller. Peter Schorzmann married Dorathea Schill on 17 January 1924 at Jerauld, South Dakota. Peter Schorzmann died on 22 August 1950 at Jerauld, South Dakota, at age 72.
Peter Schorzmann was also known as Schorzman. He was listed as a son in Heinrich Schorzmann's household on the 1880 Census at Township 95, Yankton, Dakota Territory.1 Peter Schorzmann was listed as a son in Heinrich Schorzmann's household on the 1900 Census at Lesterville, Yankton, South Dakota.2

Betty Jane Fuehrer (Richards), age 76, of Lakeland, Florida went home to her Lord on September 12, 2016.
Betty was born June 6, 1940 to Glenn and Viola Richards. She graduated from Osceola High school in the class of 1958. She married Norman Fuehrer on November 29, 1959 at Osceola. To this union 3 sons were born, Randy, David and Steve.
Betty began her married life in Columbus before moving to Minneapolis, MN where she lived for many years. They then moved to San Diego, CA where she continued working as an accountant until her retirement.
Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and competitive golf.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman, her parents, her parents-in-law, brother Larry, brothers-in-law Ernie and Ray Fuehrer, brothers-in-law Floyd Shockey and Leonard Nelson.
Graveside services will be held at the Osceola Cemetery.

Hazel Lehman, 88, of Willow Valley Retirement Community, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at The Glen at Willow Valley. She was born in Logan County, OH on February 6, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Shantz) Wenger.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Lehman (2002). They were happily married for 10 years and lived at Willow Valley together. Joseph was previously married to Lillian (Frey) Lehman and Hazel was previously married to Clarence N. Herr, of Strasburg.
She was a faithful servant to God and a long time member of Manor Brethren-in-Christ Church.
Hazel earned her Practical Nurse Degree in 1974. She worked at the Zerbe Sisters Retirement Community in Narvon and then as a private duty nurse. Hazel's natural gift of caring for others throughout her life allowed her to be a well-loved caregiver for clients, family and friends.
She enjoyed crafting, sewing, especially sock monkeys, collecting Carolers and Dickens' Christmas Villages. Hazel always encouraged her friends to stay active and always reached out to lend a helping hand. She started the craft wagon at The Glen at Willow Valley which helped residents with their sewing interests.
Hazel will always be remembered by her gift of care, not only to her husband, but to her many friends and residents at Willow Valley.
She is survived by her four stepsons; Roger Lehman (Brenda Sue Lehman 2014), of Washington Boro, Jeffrey Lehman, husband of Leslie, of Lancaster, Gregg Lehman, husband of Marilyn, of Millersville, and Todd Lehman, husband of Marian, of Mountville; 10 step grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Stickrod, of Ennis, MT, and Mary Elizabeth Carpenter, of Bellefontaine, OH. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Donald Wenger, Eldon Wenger, Kenneth Wenger, William Wenger, and Marion Wenger.
A visitation gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 6PM-8PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory 441 N. George St. Millersville, PA. A private graveside service will be held at the Creswell Cemetery, Conestoga, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Hazel's memory to the National Parkinson Foundation 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131.

He was the husband of Gladys H. Books, who died in 2009.
Born in Cleona on November 3, 1924, he was the son of the late Elmer and Carrie (Light) Books.
He was the proprietor of Curtis A. Books Millwork until his retirement 18 years ago. Curtis was a 1942 graduate of Lebanon High School. He was a member of Fairland Brethren in Christ Church.
Curtis is survived by a son, daughter, sister and brother.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Irma Mellinger.
Funeral services at Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, Cleona. Interment in the church cemetery.
