Later the family moved to Canada and lived at Bengough, Saskatchewan, until 1918 when they settled near Portal, North Dakota. Margaret married (1) to Mr. Kjelson. Margaret married December 09, 1923, to John Brockel at Estevan, Saskatchewaan. Surviving are four children from a previous marriage; two sisters and two brothers. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at First Presbyterian Church, Minot. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Linda Mae Broeckel was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Bismarck, to Samuel and Ida (Heinle) Broeckel. She attended Bismarck Public Schools and graduated in 1961. In 1965, she moved to Minot to manage the Capri Restaurant. She began her career in health care in 1970, and continued until a cancer diagnosis forced her to retire in 2008. She loved her job and had a special devotion to her patients and their families. She made many sacrifices to make sure that her immediate and extended families never went without. Linda was active in First Presbyterian Church, where she was a life-long member, joining in 1957. She served as a Sunday school teacher, an usher and was a member of the ladies group. She was always actives in her children's lives, including scouts where she served as scout leader, attending school events, sports and band. Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother. Family was the most important thing in her life. She was especially proud when her granddaughters, Kendall and Erika, were born. She loved family gatherings and enjoyed baking and cooking for friends and family. She always had the coffee pot on and enjoyed visiting with everyone. No one was a stranger at her house. When you came to visit, you never left without having a pleasant conversation and something to eat. She was very giving, kind and compassionate to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. Those who shared in her life include her daughter, Donna Mindt, Minot; her sons, Dale (Shannon) Mindt, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Donald Mindt, Minot; two grandchildren, Kendall and Erika Mindt, Eden Prairie; her sister, LaVonne Broeckel, Mandan; her brothers, Morris (Darlene) Broeckel, Bismarck, and Milton (Carlotta) Broeckel, Lincoln; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A special thanks to Janet Kinney of Minot for being a devoted friend and caregiver. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ida Broeckel; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Broeckel, her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Heinle; and two sisters who died in infancy. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon with full military honors afforded by the Brattvet-Green American Legion Post #66 of Lemmon. Serving as casketbearers are Jerry Rennich, Dorothy Rennich, Betty Rokusek, Doris Zacher, Clinton Bender, and Perry Bender. HENRY GEORGE RENNICH was born on August 26, 1920 in Elgin, ND. He was the son of Gottlieb and Magdelina (Schafer) Rennich. He grew up on the farm south of Elgin, and attended school through the eighth grade. He serviced in the U.S. Army from 21 October 1944 to 26 March 1947, serving during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. On May 6, 1947, he was united in marriage to Freda Zeh of Elgin, ND in Lemmon, making Lemmon their home. To this marriage two children were born, Wesley and Shirley. After their marriage, he worked at the Lemmon Auto Chevrolet garage and as a school custodian until his retirement. Henry passed away on Saturday morning, October 4, 2014 at Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon. Surviving family members include his wife of 67 years, Freda, one son Wesley Rennich, Huron, SD; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Larry Schafer, New Leipzig, ND; one brother, Walter Rennich, Lemmon, SD; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ida Keopplin, and Martha Tietz, sister-in-law, Bernice Rennich, brothers-in-law, Jacob Keopplin, Ernest Tietz, Ruben Zeh, and Elmer Zeh; two nephews and one niece. He was born Jan. 6, 1909, in Gilcrest to John and Caroline (Oster) Oster. On Jan. 7, 1934, he married Caroline Rothman in La Salle. She died May 18, 1981. Mr. Oster lived in the Gilcrest and Platteville area most of his life. He attended schools in Gilcrest. He farmed in Gilcrest, then moved to Masters in 1949 and farmed for two years before returning to Platteville, where he farmed until he retired in 1980. He lived in Platteville until he moved to Greeley in 1990. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of a Salle. Survivors are a daughter, Joan Vogel of Greeley; a son, Alvin of Simi Valley, Calif.; a sister, Dorene Markham of Colorado Springs; two grandchildren, K’Anne Vogel and Nathan Vogel, both of Greeley; and a great-grandson. An infant daughter, Vera Jane Oster, and two sisters are deceased. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. He moved to College Place in 2002 to be with his former wife, friend and caregiver, Marjie Erickson. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Walla Walla. Ernie is survived by six children, James (Cindy) Oster of Mill Creek, WA., Cheryl (Lloyd) Craig of Spokane Valley, WA., Linda (Stephen) Richardson of Lancaster, CA., Ernie (Debbie) Oster Jr. of Camas, WA., Dwain (Heather) Oster of Portland, OR., and John (Mandy) Oster of Copperas Cove, Texas; grandchildren, Danielle and Jacob Oster, Heidi (Fernando) Garcia, Amanda and Jeffrey Craig, Nicole Richardson, Krissy (Mike) Blurton, Ashley (Cody) Forgey, Hailey Oster, Kaitlyn and McKenzie Oster and Ryan and Rylee Oster; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Rylie and Peyton Blurton; sister, Dolores (Jerry) Hudspeth of Springdale, WA; two nieces, Suzanne Moore and Linda Dix; and one nephew, Danny Kimbro.
