| 96778 | Uwe Zimbelmann: Burial: Cremated, Other - Specifically: buried on top of her daughter's grave http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=44127038 Ruth Karnatz was born on March 9, 1904 in Santa Ana, California and passed to her rest on October 26, 1993 in Loma Linda, California. Ruth was a positive, optimistic individual, proving the power of a positive attitude and its influence on longevity. Ruth was healthy and quick-witted until the day she died......all 89 years. Ruth, one of 11 children, was born and reared in the Santa Ana area at the time when southern California and Orange County were made up of rural farms and small towns. It was a good time to be alive. She gained all her formal education in public school graduating from Santa Ana High School in 1922. Ruth met and married Otto Henry Karnatz in 1926. To this marriage was born 5 children....4 while living in California and 1 after moving to Kansas. Two children have preceded her in death --son, Raymond; daughter, Patty Lee. Those who survive her are: Sisters: Esther Maddox Irene Kearns All of California Pricilla Verbesky Son: Otto Henry Karnatz, Jr. (Tennessee) Daughter: Betty Spady (Tennessee) Daughter: Irene Lorey (California) 13 grandchildren 18 great grandchildren 1 great, great grandchild (She has lived to see them all) Ruth lived in an age when being a housewife and full time mother was still in vogue. And she met the challenge. She was able to devote full time to her childrens training and proper up bringing. One incident shared illustrates the point: While growing up, Irene recalls her mother taking the younger children out to the Kansas country side on Sabbath and creating an inspiring Sabbath School and Church for them so the day could be remembered as a special times. (This was due to the fact that there was no pastor available in the area) Ruth and Otto moved from the Santa Ana community to Kansas in 1937. It was here that Irene was born. They lived and worked in Kansas until 1955. Then it was on to Tennessee and a new experience. In 1967, they moved west to Arizona. It was here that Ruths' husband passed away in 1970. Ruth was now free to return to her birthplace - California. She came back in 1970 and lived here until her death. Her cremation was buried on top of Patty Lee Karnatz grave on June 12, 1995, at Burr Oak Cemetery, Jewell Co., Kansas | Weeler, Ruth (I105928)

Mrs Gustafson was confirmed at the Lutheran church at Andover, May 9, 1880. Early in the spring of 1882, she together with her parents arrived at Edgar, Clay County, Nebraska and has lived in Edgar and the Edgar vicinity since that time. Nov 18, 1913, she was married to Mr A T Gustafson of Edgar. Mr Gustafson passed away almost seven years ago. The last year she has lived with her brothers, Victor and August Slatt at the home northwest of Edgar. Mrs Gustafson was a faithful and devoted member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Edgar from the very beginning of the congregation in Feb 1882 and was transferred the membership of the congregation when the church was moved from Edgar to Ong in 1922 which is now the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Ong. Thus she has been a member of the Lutheran church ever since her baptism until her death. Those who are left to mourn her departure are her sister, Mrs Charley Erickson and two brother, August and Victor Slatt all of Edgar, Two sister and two brothers have gone on before to that heavenly home where suffering and sorrow are no more. She leaves also a great number of relatives living in California and at Edgar, Ong, Oakland, Wakefield, Funk, near and at Lincoln, Nebraska and a host of near and dear friends. She will be sadly missed in her home, in her beloved church and in her circle of friends. Mrs Gustafson was a devoted soul to both her God and to her fellowman. She lived a triumphant life with profound faith and simple trust in her Lord. Jesus was her special friend. Interesting, considerate and pleasant, it was a real pleasure to converse with her. She sincerely loved her church and sacrificed freely for the kingdom. She had a beautiful vision of the missionary program of the church. Humbly and honorably and with a exquisite measure of reverence she loved to say just a word for her God and for her Christ. To her the church was Christ's institution and the man in the pulpit was an ambassador of Christ. Faithful, devoted and untiring in her service to her God and to her fellowman she has left for that glorious world that God has prepared for those who love Him. Fighting the good fight of faith we trust we shall see her again with Jesus in Glory. Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 and at the church in Ong at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, Feb 15, 1931. He pastor, Rev Henning L Hassel of Ong spoke in the Swedish language using as his text II Cor 5:1 and in the English language using as his text Isaiah 55: 8-9, on the theme, "The greater thinking and the greater wisdom." Mrs Emmert Nelson, Mrs Harry Pearson, Mr Algot Peterson and Mrs A L Swanson rendered very touchingly and feelingly some of Mrs Gustafson's favorite hymns. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery. She grew to womanhood at Andover where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. She was married to Charles O Erickson, March 29, 1879. To this union seven children were born, two of which preceded her to the Greater World, Theodore at seven months and Arthur at 24 years of age. In the spring of 1882 Mrs Erickson with her husband come to Nebraska, living in Clay County for four years, when they moved to Nuckolls County, where they lived for 24 years, and came back to Clay county in 1906, living on their farm east of Edgar and west of Ong, until the time of her death. Left to mourn her departure are her husband, Charles O Erickson, five children, four sons, Henry, Ebburt, Luther and Ernest, all of Edgar and one daughter, Mrs Esther Pearson of Shickley, Nebraska, two brothers, August and Victor Slatt, of Edgar, 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many near and dear friends. Mrs Erickson was a charter member of the Gethsemane Lutheran church of Ong, which was organized at Edgar, Nebraska in 1882. Throughout the 54 years of the congregations existence she has been a faithful and devoted member and though illness during the last years of her life did not allow her to be present very often at the services, she nevertheless was always deeply concerned about the welfare and the work of the congregation. With her husband, Mr Erickson, she always faithfully and cheerfully assisted him to care for the tender plant they had been largely instrument to organize at Edgar in those early pioneer days, which is now the Gethsemane Lutheran church of Ong, to which place it was transplanted in 1922. The pastor shall never forget the many beautiful and wonderful devotional hours enjoyed in her cheerful Christian way. With her keenly observant and happily devoted husband to the great work of the kingdom of God she was always faithfully building an eternal cathedral upon the solid foundation, the Rock of the Ages, Christ Jesus, The Son of God and the Saviour of the world. We shall miss her in the home, church and in the community. However if we are but faithful unto the end we shall meet her again in the eternal exquisite city of God. Funeral services were held Monday, April 27th from the home at 2 o'clock and at the church at Ong at 2:30. The Rev Henning L Hassell, her pastor of the last twelve years of her life, chose as the text, Rev 14:13 speaking on the theme: "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." There were "Safe in the Arms of Jesus, "Vid Jesu Hjarta dar ar lungt," solo by Mrs Nelson, and "We Shall Sleep but Not Forever." Songs rendered at the home were: "There is a Gate That Stands Ajar," and "Nearer Still Nearer." We humbly thank God for a beautiful life whose noble deeds live on and on into the eternal world. Peace be to the memory of her victorious life. Interment was in the Edgar cemetery. | Slatt, Inga Marie (I106506)
