Mr. Dammann was born on Feb. 7, 1910, on the Dammann family farm near Worms in Merrick County, to Alfred and Katherina (Hinrichs) Dammann.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Bill Bowzer and Barbara and Mike List, all of Omaha; and one son and daughter-in-law, R. "Cork" and Sandra Dammann of St. Libory; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Hildegard Brase of Omaha and Irene and Melvin Bhensky of St. Paul.

Also left to cherish his memory are five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Arnold was the grandson of Claus Dammann, who was one of the original German settlers in Merrick County. In 1975, Mr. Dammann was the recipient of the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award for the continued ownership within the family of the same Nebraska farm for more than 100 years or more. They had a farming and Grade A dairy operation on the original homestead for many years.
He was baptized, confirmed and received his elementary education at Zion Lutheran School in Worms. He then attended Palmer High School.
He married Alma Helene Peters on Sept. 21, 1933, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms, with the late Rev. Herbert Brase officiating. The couple lived on the family farm all through their married life.
Mr. Dammann held various offices in Zion Lutheran Church and was an active member in Aid Association of Lutherans projects. He was also a member of the Platt Duetsche Society. He was a former member of the Liederkranz Society and the Grand Island Saddle Club. He served on the board of directors of Union Grain Company of St. Libory for 30 years.
He enjoyed fishing and traveled to Canada numerous years to fish. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parent; one sister, Agatha Luebbe; and one son-in-law, Robert Frauen.
Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, where four generations of the Dammann family are buried or to the Lutheran Hour.".
