Keith Eugene Morris, eldest son of Vern and Effie Karnatz Morris was born in Beatrice, Neb., Sept 10, 1921 and died at the Veterans Hospital, Wichita, Thursday, March 30, 1978 at the age of 56 years, 5 months and 20 days.
He entered the service of his country in August of 1942. He received a World War II victory ribbon, good conduct medal and three bronze stars. He was honorably discharged from the service in January of 1946.
He was united in marriage with Doris Warneking in Mankato, June 12, 1948. They lived in the Burr Oak community all their married life. To this union, two children, Daryl Lee and Nancy JoAnn were born.
Mr Morris, his father and two brothers moved their garage business to Burr Oak in the spring of 1948. Later, after an eye injury, he began his own refrigeration and TV business. At the time of death he was employed by Mid-America maintenance, Inc.
He was baptized into the First Christian Church of Burr Oak in 1954. He was an active member, serving as Sunday school teacher, superintendent, deacon, elder and chairman of the board. Mr Morris served the community Fire Department and other community activities.
He always enjoyed camping and fishing and all other outdoor activities.
Devoted to his family and friends, he enjoyed helping them in many different ways.
Mr Morris had failing health in his last few weeks of life. He was always a cheerful and uncomplaining person.
A grandson, Dustin Wayde, preceded him in death in 1976 and a granddaughter Darrah Nicole, in 1978.
Survivors are his wife, Doris; son, Daryl, Canton, Kansas; daughter Nancy of the home; his parents, Mr and Mrs Vern Morris, Burr Oak; two brothers, John and Cleo, Burr Oak; his mother-in-law, Mary Warneking, Superior; and a host of relatives and friends.
Military services were held at the Burr Oak Christian church at 2:00 p.m. April 3 with Rev David Jenkins officiating. Interment was at Burr Oak Cemetery.
