Michael Rominger was the seventh of twelve known children of Jacob Rominger Sr. (1743-1816) and Maria Barbara (went by Barbara) Sidelinger (Seidlinger) (1752-1792), who married 20 Sep 1768 at Broad Bay, Maine. Jacob Sr. was born in Germany and Barbara in Maine. Shortly after they married (in 1770) the family moved to the Moravian settlements near present day Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. After Barbara died, Jacob Sr. remarried to the widow Mrs. Phillipina Sabine (went by Sabine) Krause Fensler (1749-1816 (or 1795?)) on 04 Sep 1792 at Bethabara, Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.
Michael married Christina Ebert (1782-1844) on 23 Oct 1804 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Michael and Christina were the parents of ten known children; eight boys and two girls. Nine of the ten children reached maturity. The ten children were:
