Wife Katherine Mogck OBituary from Granddaughter Bernice: The news that Philip Frey had suddenly passed away in his home at Burke on Saturday at 10 a.m. came as a shock to the people of this community. Mr. Frey was born in South Russia on August 17. 1869, the son of Christ and Louise Frey. His childhood was spent in the country of his birth. where on November 10, 1887 he was united in marriage with Catherina Mock. He left Russia in 1900 with his family, arriving at Kuhn N.D. on June 15. In October of the same year they left North Dakota and moved to Naper, Nebr. where they remained on a farm until 1905 when they took up a homestead northeast of Burke. This was their home until 1946. Then because of his advanced age they retired and moved to Burke where they have since lived. The deceased is survived by his widow and the following of their twelve children: John of Spokane, Wash., Mary Bohnet of Burke, Fred of Burke, Christina Wolf of Lake Geneva, Wis., Henry of Burke, Louis of Burke, Catherine Schutte of Empire. Cal, David of Burke and Robert of Empire, Cal. A daughter, Louise Freeman passed away last fall. Two other children passed away in infancy. There are 52 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. At their next wedding anniversary, they would have been married 63 years. Mr. Frey reached the age of 80 years, 5 months and 15 days. He was in very good health until he suffered a stroke last fall, after which he was hospitalised for a short time. Funeral services were held on Wednedsay afternoon at Burke with Rev. O. Kuehl, of the Lutheran Church officiating. Burial took place in Graceland Cemetery. The following grand sons served as pallbearers: Edward Bohnet, Fred Frey, Lawrence Freeman, Howard Frey, Carl Frey and Ernest Frey.
