Elizabeth Hoffer, age 89, of Bismarck, formerly of Turtle Lake, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Baptist Home in Bismarck.
Funeral Services: 10:30 AM Monday, Nov. 9, 2009; St. Olaf Lutheran Church – rural Turtle Lake, ND; Pastor Randy Emgarten, officiating.
Interment: St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home in Turtle Lake; Monday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Elizabeth was born March 10, 1920 in Lincoln Valley, rural Sheridan County, ND, a daughter to Jacob & Christina (Waltz) Boschee. She attended rural school in Sheridan County.
Elizabeth married Walter Hoffer on March 18, 1939 at Turtle Lake, ND. They made their home on a farm 4 miles north of Turtle Lake for many years. They moved into Turtle Lake in 1980. Her husband Walter passed away in August 1991. Elizabeth continued to live in Turtle Lake until moving to Bismarck in 2007. She enjoyed tending to her garden and growing flowers. She canned much of her produce and shared it with her family and friends. Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting and made many blankets for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and attending auction sales. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church for many years.
She is survived by her children, Lillian (Frank) Vogel of Bismarck, Esther (Percy) Tschider of Mandan, Ida (George) Somers of Bismarck, Wilbert Hoffer of Turtle Lake, Rueben (Karen) Hoffer of Minot, Irene (Dennis) Amundson of Princeton, KY, Bernice (James) Schatz of Bismarck, & David (Paulette) Hoffer of Bismarck; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Dockter of Mandan; two sisters-in-law, Verna Hoffer of Hazen, & Evelyn Boschee of Devils Lake; and many nieces & nephews.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband (Walter), one daughter (Edna), three grandchildren (Raymond, Linda, & Duane Klein), two sisters (Mathilda & Martha), & three brothers (Jake, Edward, & Henry).
