Alma Hieb, age 92, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2007 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
She was born on December 29, 1914 in Herrick, South Dakota, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Frank Fuhrman. Alma grew up in South Dakota where she attended school graduating from Herrick High School in 1932.
She came to Sedro-Woolley in 1940, where she raised her family and worked as a housekeeper for many years, working for Win McClain, the LaPlant Family, and the Dyker Family in Mount Vernon.
She was a longtime member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed reading and embroidery and she will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls and her love of playing cards with the family.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Lucile Pelayo, of Gig Harbor; her son, Paul (Janice) Hieb, of Sedro-Woolley; four grandchildren: Gordon (Karie) Hieb, of Vancouver, WA, Jodi (Cameron) Rose, of Big Lake, Sonya Hamilton, of Everett, Colleen (Jesse) Ruiz, of Sammamish, WA; one stepgrandchild, Beatrice Foreman, of Olympia; five great-grandchildren: Emily and Annabelle Rose, Ireland Hieb, Clarissa Hamilton and Ricky Hamilton; a great-great-granddaughter, Starlene Little; two sisters, Lydia Cahoy, of Scottsbluff, NB and Edna Sieh, of Herrick, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Robert; and a sister, Freida Hieb.
Alma is also survived by her second family she loved so much; The Dyker Family of Mount Vernon.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Sedro-Woolley for their excellent care to Alma.
Memorial Services will be Friday, February 16, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Wendy Tingley officiating. Inurnment will be the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery Urn Garden.
Memorials are suggested to the Heart Fund or Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
