      Boone County Democrat - March 3 1905
Jacob L. Zimbelman, one of the old residents of Boone County and a member of one of the best known and respected families, died at Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday morning at 4:00 o'clock after an illness of several months. The telegram received did not contain any of the details of his passing away, but stated that the remains would be brought to this city for interment. The funeral party, consisting of Mr. Lafe Zimbelman, and sister, Louise Zimbelman, left Los Angeles Thursday evening and should arrive in this city about Monday. The deceased went to California last September accompanied by his sister, Miss Louise, in the hope that the climate of the Pacific coast would aid in restoring his health. His health did not improve and he grew gradually worse until the end came Tuesday morning. The deceased was about sixty years of age and for a half century has resided in Boone County with the exception of a few years when he was absent from the city. He was engaged in business for a number of years and for a time conducted a grocery at Carroll. His father, the late John Zimbelman, was one of the pioneer settlers of the county and among the first business men of Boonesboro. The surviving members of the Zimbelman family are the mother of the deceased, Mrs. M.L. Zimbelman of this city, four brothers, Lafe, George and Charles of this city, and Alf of Los Angeles, California; and two sisters, Mrs. J.R. Paterson and Miss Louise Zimbelman of this city. In our next issue we will publish a more extended obituary of the deceased.
