Lena Alice Perkins Bowersox, daughter of Warren H. and Alice A. Stephens Perkins, was born August 31, 1898, on a farm near Munden, and died September 27, 1987, at the Balleville Health Care Center in Belleville, at the age of 89 years and 26 days. She moved back to Republic County in 1916 after a short period in Hamilton County. She attended elementary school, high school and business college. She was united in marriage to Claude L. Bowersox on September 14, 1926, and to this union four children were born. She was a member of the Central Christian Church of Belleville, the WWW Club, American Legion Auxiliary of which she was a past president, Christian Women's Fellowship, serving on the state board, Christian Church Quilters and the Keystone Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two infant daughters, Jean Louise and Shirley Dee; one brother, Roy; one infant sister, Ethel; one grandson, Jeffrey Scott. She is survived by two sons, David C. Bowersox of Belleville, Warren Lynn Bowersox of Belleville, one brother, John Perkins of Belleville, one sister, Mrs. Edna Strong of Belleville, nine grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. David (Connie) Underwood, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin (Valerie) Kandt, Robert Bowersox, Alice Bowersox, Gayleen Bowersox, Sgt. David R. Bowersox, Mr. and Mrs. John (Lisa) Stinson, jr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Vicky) Griggs and James Bowersox; one great-grandson, Ryan Underwood; one step great-great-granddaughter, Lyndsay. Funeral services were held at the Central Christian Church of Belleville, on September 30, at 2 p.m., with Maurice Graham, officiating. Interment was in Belleville Cemetery.
