Milledgeville-- Mrs. Elizabeth Overholser, Portland, Oregon, and formerly of Milledgeville, died Sunday morning at the Portland Sanatorium Hospital where she had undergone surgery last week.
She was born in Wysox Township on April 1, 1882 the daughter of Charles and Barbara Ackerman Garwick and spent most of her life in this area, moving to Portland in 1960, She married Dr. John Overholser and he passed away many years ago. She was the organist at the Milledgeville Methodist Church of which she was a member. She was also the librarian at the Mary Fletcher library for over 30 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gretchen Kirkey of Portland, with whom she resided; a son, J. Dwight of Champaign, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Woodin Funeral Home in Milledgeville with the Rev. Clare Hewitt officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday morning at he funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in her home.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs. E. Overholser
Milledgeville-- Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Overholser, a former Milledgeville resident who died Sunday at Portland, Oregon, were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Woodin Funeral Home in Milledgeville. Rev. Clare Hewitt, pastor of the Milledgeville Methodist Church, officiated at the service. Mrs. William Maxfield sang “What A Friend.” Mrs. G. H. Wolber was at the organ.
John Hubbard, Kenneth Overholser, Marvin Carbaugh, Wilbert Nicholson, Chester Linton, and Chester Lenhart, all of Coleta, and all nephews of the deceased served as pallbearers.
The lovely floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. Arden Deets, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kreider, and Mrs. H. R. Pilgrim.
Interment was at Bethel Cemetery.
