Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Vanstel church for Mrs. Dora Brockel, mother of Mrs. William Brockel, who died Wednesday at the ranch home of her daughter north of Vananda, after a lingering illness from cancer at the age of almost 77 years. The rites were conducted by Reverend H. Nagel, Lutheran minister from Billings, Montana, and interment occurred in the Vansel cemetery.
The deceased was born August 08, 1853, at Peterstahl, South Russia, where she grew to womanhood and married. In 1909, after the death of her husband, she, and her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Brockel, came to America and settled at Selby, South Dakota. Then in 1915 they came to Rosebud County and filed on a homestead in the Blacktail country. She was a member of the German Lutheran church since early womanhood.
In addition to her daughter, the deceased is survived by eight grandchildren, Mrs. Shirley Lincoln of Bozeman, Miss Barbara Brockel and Miss Elizabeth Brockel of Forsyth; also Leonard, William Jr., Henry, Phillip, and Lee Brockel, who still live on the home ranch. A son died in Russia.
In addition to a host of friends and neighbors several were present at the funeral from Vananda and Forsyth.
