William "Bill" Fletcher May 16, 1927 - Oct. 4, 2014 BEULAH - William "Bill" S. Fletcher, 87, of Beulah, passed away Oct. 4, 2014. He was born on May 16, 1927, to William and Jessie (Kaufmann) in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. Bill served his country with the Canadian Army during the Korean War era. He married the love of his life, Gladys on April 8, 1950. Together they raised three children, Robert, Douglas and Beckie Kim. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gladys Doreen (Lehr); sons, Robert Fletcher and Douglas Fletcher; and daughter, Beckie Kim (Roger) Mills. Bill was the proud grandfather to 4 grandsons and 5 granddaughters and 7 great-grandchildren. Also sister Carol and brother Barry. Bill retired to Beulah, Michigan (Crystal Lake) from South Bend, Indiana where he worked in the auto industry. Bill was a devoted community member in many ways including serving as President of Kiwanis Club of Crystal Lake & volunteering with the Benzie County Chamber of Commerce. He received the Hillary Clinton Award for his effort with distributing reading books to local school children. Bill enjoyed golfing, fishing, travel and spending time with family. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Douglas Fletcher, was held Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior at the Jowett Funeral Home in Benzonia with the memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill's name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association . Arrangements by Jowett Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Service.
