Casper Steinhoff, Sloan, Iowa, passed away at the Burgess Memorial Hospital at Onawa on December 23, 1972. He had reached the age of 74 years, 6 months and 20 days. He was born at Smithland, Iowa on June 3, 1898, the son of William and Elizabeth Steinhoff. On February 16, 1920 be was married to Amanda Weber at Hornick, Iowa.
Mr. Steinhoff farmed in the Smithland area for many years before his retirement, moving to Sloan about 5 years ago. He was a member of the United Church of Christ of German City, Iowa.
Survivors are his wife, Amanda, of Sloan; one son, Gale of Manilla, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Leah) Shearon of Sioux City, Iowa and Mrs. Ray (Joy) Ferraro of Reseda, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Edna Unkel of Hornick, Iowa; ten grandchildren and one great grandson.
Services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday, December 26, 1972 at the Wood Funeral Chapel, Whiting, Iowa with the Rev. Martin Knudsen and the Rev. Henry Held officiating. The Hornick Men's Quartet, Jack Steinhoff, George Till, Gerald Beckstrom and Edgar Shupe, sang accompanied by Mrs. Katherine Cox. Casket bearers were Victor Weber, Clifton Weber, Merold Weber, Everett Steinhoff, Wayne Steinhoff and Ray Steinhoff. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home of Whiting and Sloan.
