Son of Ray & Myra (Griesburg) Christian, brother of Dale, Jean and Myrna, husband of Adaleen (Susie) Crow, who passed away in 1977, father of Pernell, husband of Carol Derby and father of Renae. Lloyd was raised in Pipestone MN and graduated from Pipestone HS in 196O. He joined the United States Navy and served aboard the ship USS ORISKANY-CVA-34 out of San Diego CA. He served his country for 4 years, upon discharge, he returned to Pipestone MN and worked for the Pan-O-Gold bakery. He married Adaleen Crow on Sept 3, 1966 and to them was born a son Pernell. The family moved to Hamel MN where Lloyd worked for Pako Products Corp in MN. After Adaleen unexpectedly died from a brain aneurysm in March of 1977, he moved back to Pipestone in May 1977.
Lloyd married Carol L Derby in Pipestone and to them a daughter was born, Renae. in 1979 He worked as a photo developer for the EROS DATA CENTER near Garretson SD. Lloyd worked in the photo lab for 20 years. In Oct 1999, when Lloyd did not report to work,as was his habit of being there everyday, on time and always called in when he was to be off, friends became concerned and called the police. It was sadly discovered, Lloyd passed away in his home from apparent heart failure. He had looked forward to retirement. he was only 57 years old and 8 months.
Baptized in the spring of 1942 in the Methodist Church in Appleton WI, he was confirmed in May 1954 at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone, where he sang in the church choir. As a young adult, he was a active member of the Assembly of God Church. He had a love for his children, family and grandchildren, as well as for his pets, two cats and his dalmation dog Paige. He enjoyed going antique shopping, collecting coins, marbles and old bottles. He enjoyed detecting, researching and analyzing artifacts and had a love for archelogy.
He will be lovingly remembered by his two children, Pernell and his wife Jill, Renae Christian, one step-daughter, Monica Jones, three granchildren, Phillip, Danielle and Gavin. Two step-grandchildren, Roman and Evelyn, his parents Ray & Myra, his brother Dale and sisters, Jean & Myrna.
Lloyd will aways be remembered by his co-workers and friends at the EROS photolab as friendly, funny, his great laugh and especially for his bright tie-dye T shirts. He will be missed by all who knew him.
