Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 at Bismarck Funeral Home with a rosary/parish vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary Ann was born on December 11, 1933 in Mott, to Martin and Monica (Messer) Friesz. She was rasied and educated in Mott and graduated from Mott High School. She married Stanley Bader on July 3, 1952 in Mott, ND.
Christian Faith and community service were important parts of Mary Ann’s life. She was a member of the Catholic Daughter's of America and a long-time member of St. Joseph’s Parish.
She was self-taught at many things, including learning English as German was her first language. The enormous responsibility of raising a large family was all encompassing but she also had numerous talents and abilities and was a very gifted individual with the inner strength of a Warrior. She was a very resourceful individual - nothing went to waste. She was an amazing seamstress and enjoyed sewing and crocheting, both of which were self-taught. Being outside in her garden or flower bed was an enjoyment for her and at the same time could also be therapeutic. She loved canning and cooking. When the family moved to Mandan she developed an interest in ceramics and spent many hours doing this. She enjoyed playing bingo and won a cruise that allowed her and her husband to take a trip of a lifetime.
She was an avid reader and gaining knowledge was very important to her - crossword puzzles were part of her daily routine. The words "I can't" were not part of her vocabulary and that is how she accomplished many tasks and hurdles in her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stan; her parents; two brothers and a sister.
