Lodi News-Sentinel (CA) - December 18, 2007
Mr. Elmer Alton Reiswig, of Lodi, passed away on December 15, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born in Harvey, North Dakota, on May 27, 1918, to Simon and Bertha Reiswig. On November 9, 1939, he married the love of his life, Ida Fischer.
Mr. Reiswig was a farmer all of his life, picking up the trade as soon as he was able to pick up a shovel. He specialized in the dairy farming and beef cattle business, owning Reiswig Dairy and Westside Dairy. He also raised grapes and row crops.
Even after he officially retired from farming, Elmer always had a large, flourishing garden. He made sure to keep all of his friends and family in fresh supply of whatever produce he was growing at the time.
For the last 12 years, Mr. Reiswig enjoyed watching his friend, Lo, raise strawberries on his land. Elmer lovingly cared for his wife for four years until she passed away in 2006. He will be remembered as a kind, generous man who will be dearly missed.
Mr. Reiswig is survived by his children: Elaine (David) Bradshaw of Portland, OR and Gary Dale (Erika) Reiswig of Bakersfield. He was preceded in death by his wife: Ida Reiswig, and his brother: Clarence Reiswig.
Friends are invited to visit on Monday, December 17, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Tuesday, December 18, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m., with committal to immediately follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.
