Hackleman's in America, 1749-1988:
Sarah Tyner was John Harris's mistress, not his wife, and lived in a house on one of his plantations. She bore him 3 children -- 2 boys and a girl. All of the children kept the Tyner name rather than take the Harris name.
John provided well for all three children in his will. He also provided for Sarah, leaving her a house and attached estate for her life time. His wife, Mildred, was also left a house and estate for her life time. At Mildred's death, everything went to the Tyner children. For that reason, it may be surmised that John and Mildred had no living children.
Sarah was pretty much cut out of her father's, Nicholas Tyner, will. She was only given a cow and a calf. This shows how angry he was at her actions.
See the Hackleman genealogy book by Elijah Hackleman for a transcript of both Nicholas' and John's wills and lots of other information on the Tyners.
