Mrs. Betty Lou Cook, 76, widow of Gerald B. “Skip” Cook, of Oxford GA, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014. Mrs. Cook was born on January 31, 1938 in Georgetown, KY, to the late John R. and Alice Jones. Mrs. Cook was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and was talented in many hobbies such as cooking, baking, flower arranging, gardening, sewing, and many other craft activities. Betty was a very loving, kind, and generous person who was always giving of herself to her family, friends, and her church. She amazed us with her talents and we loved to taste her delicious cakes, desserts, and wonderful meals. We celebrate that Betty has gone home to her Heavenly Father and has been reunited with her loving husband, “Skip”
Mrs. Cook is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Belinda Peters of Sandy Springs, GA; stepson and stepdaughter in law Michael and Jincy Cook of Mt. Zion, GA; and stepdaughter Dawn Bloodgood of Newton, TX; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Beverly Jones, James and Emma Jones, and John R. and Margie Jones, all of Georgetown, KY.; and a sister and brother-in-law Cyndy and Ervine Oney of Mt. Zion, GA. Mrs. Cook is also survived by two grandsons that were the light of her life, Erick and Adam Peters.
In addition to her loving husband and parents, Mrs. Cook is preceded in death by two sons; Gary Keith Peters and Michael David Peters; two sisters, Marjorie Perry and Ellen Norman, and one brother Richard Wright.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cook will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Chris Allen. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
