      Stephen™s father was born in North Carolina and his mother in Kentucky. in 1860, S.M. Henley (correct birth year and place of birth) was raising stock in Paskenta, Tehama, California, with Wm N. Henley (27) and Maggie Henley (20), both of whom were also born in Indiana.
      In the summer of 1872, it became known that a Mr. Henly planned the erection of a business building on the corner of Fourth and Commercial Street [in Elko, Nevada] and .. an agreement was entered into whereby Henley would erect a two story building, the upper floor of which was to be suitably arranged for the joint use of the two lodges. The sum of $3200.00 was to be paid to Mr. Henley by the lodges for this upper story, and title was to be conveyed for it, Henley holding title to the ground floor.
      In 1880 he was County Clerk in Elko, Nevada. On August 25, 1893, William Morris Miller and Laura Bell Forrister were married in S. M. Henley Store in Elko, Nevada by the justice of the peace, S. M. Henley. There was a Mrs. M. H. Miller that was a witness, as well as a Mrs. G. Moody.NOTE: The witnesses would have been Ellen Moodyâ„¢s sister (Mrs. Major H. Miller) and brother (George Moody), both of whom lived in Elko.
