Susannah and Dudley lived at Å“Bellfield, where their tombstones still stand. Dudley represented Warwick County in the House of Burgesses (1695-7) and served the king on the Council (1698-1710). He paid quit rents on 1,350 acres in York County, 216 acres in Elizabeth City County, and 4,626 acres in Warwick in 1704.Â
Dudley established his seat at Å“E D Plantation, which produced a sweet-scented tobacco branded as Å“E Dees. As many as 100 slaves toiled in the tobacco fields on Å“E D Plantation.Â
Susannah and Dudley were the parents of four children before Susannah died at age 34.
