George Baylor raised and equipped a battalion of Horse, which was in constant service until he was disabled by wounds. He was aide to Washington at Trenton and presented the colors there taken to the Continental Congress. Baylor's Dragoons were surprised while asleep at Tappen, September 27, 1778, and all that were not murdered were captured. The sword that was presented him by Congress œfor his soldierly qualities and brilliant achievements, is now in the family.
