Obituary Palmyra, Wisconsin Died--At his home in this village, on Tuesday the 20 after a protracted illness, Mr. G.L. Whitney, aged 86 years. The funeral services occured at the home at 2 o'clock p.m., when a large number of friends and acquaintences had assembled to sympathize with the relatives of the deceased in their affliction, and to pay a tribute of respect to the memory of him who they have so highly esteemed as a kind and true man. The services were conducted by Rev. E. Duckworth, and his remains interred in the Palmyra cemetery. Mr. Whitney came to Wisconsin in 1849 and had been a resident of Palymra for some 26 years. He was a strong advocate of the temerance cause, a cause that he early exposed and advocated. He was true to his principle and passed those characteristics that constitutes the true men. May his life work prove a blessing (as it will) to the coming generation. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters to mourn the departure of the husband and father.
