Herbert J. Hieb, 54, Roscoe, died Sunday, March 16 at St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen where he had been hopsitalized for several weeks. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday morning at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roscoe with Rev. Gerhard Geiger officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens at Aberdeen. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Herbert J. Hieb was born on Oct. 1, 1920 in Blaine Township, McPherson Co., near Hosmer, where he attended rural school. Later he attended Hansen Auto and Diesel Mechanic School at Fargo, N. Dak., graduating in 1940. He was
married to Irene Mohr at Hosmer on May 11, 1941. They farmed east of Hosmer until 1957, when they moved to Hosmer where he was employed by Schlaht and Job. In 1959, they moved toRoscoe, where in partnership with his brother,
Erwin, he operated Hieb Repair until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He served on the Roscoe City Council and as Acting Mayor. He was a member of the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department, the Roscoe Commercial Club, and was a past member of the Roscoe Sportsman's club. He was a school bus driver for the Roscoe Independent School "District for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Irene Hieb, Roscoe; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Caroline) Ernst, Shakopee, Minn., and Mrs. Gerald (Phyllis) Feickert, Aberdeen; one brother, Erwin A. Hieb, Roscoe; one step brother, Erwin Spitzer, Roscoe; one sister, Mrs. Lawrence (LaVerne) Hettich, Jave; three step-sisters, Mrs. Joe (Ann) Brisbe, Mrs. Ervin (Adeline) Badge, both of
Roscoe; Mrs. George (Alma) keisner, Karlingen, Tex.; and five grandchildren. Casket bearers are John Hieb, Roscoe, LaDean Hettich, Bowdle, Robert Mohr, and George Mohr, both of Hosmer, Marvin Entzel, Aberdeen, and Don DeBeor,
Pierre.
Honorary casket bearers are Edwin Dabbert, Alvin Schmitt, Harold Margeson, Henry Trefz, Harold Sahli, Robert Ernst, Elmer Mayer, Randy Huber, Reuben Beck, and Robert Garner all of Roscoe.
