OBITUARY
From Wells County Free Press, Fessenden ND, 8 May 1947.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, May 6th, from the Church by the Highway, Germantown, for Henry Meth, 85, long a resident of Fessenden and community, who passed away April 29th at Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Meth was born December 17, 1861 in Neu-Danzig, South Russia, where he grew to young manhood. He came to America in 1893, first settling near Wishek; and in 1893 the family moved to the Germantown community. In 1914 they moved to Fessenden where he resided until moving to California in 1937. In 1945 he entered the Baptist Old Folks home in Portland, Oregon, where he passed away April 29 at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and two weeks.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, nee Rosine Woehl, in 1914; by his second wife, Mrs. Ida Fischer in 1937; and by his third wife, Mrs. Eva Kammarer in 1945.
Surviving children are Mrs. August Seidel of Cathay; Mrs. Gottlieb Scherbenske of Cleveland; Mrs. Oscar Thor of Wilton; John Meth of Heimdal; Mrs. Max Link of Miami, Florida; Gust Meth of Cathay; Mrs. Ernest Broschat of Cathay; Walter Meth of Alexandria, Minn., and Albert Meth of Fessenden. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. All of his children, with the exception of Mrs. Link, were present for the funeral.
Rev. W. G. Gerthe officiated at the services Tuesday, and interment was made in the Germantown cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Emery Broschat, Orville Meth, Clarence Seidel, Victor and Marvin Link and Dale Speck.
Relatives her for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wohl and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Haas of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Schneider of Medina and Mrs. John Bauer of McClusky.
