Notizen:
Also known as: Fort Huachuca Post Cemetery

Fort Huachuca Cemetery is located on a lovely hillside in what is known as "old" post, on the U.S. Army base, Fort Huachuca. It was moved from a nearby location to its present site on May 18, 1883, and it is the final resting place to many Soldiers and Indian Scouts, spouses, children and unknowns who died during the turmoil to settle the area. The post and cemetery closed in 1947 following the war, and both were reopened in September 1967. In 1971, the cemetery was enlarged to over seven acres and currently has a capacity of 3,707 graves. The cemetery is one of the few remaining Army post cemeteries in the United States. Those eligible for burial are retired and active duty service members and their authorized dependents. Current burials are cremains only, unless there is a previous family member buried in the post cemetery which was a full casket internment. Visitors to the Fort Huachuca Cemetery must first obtain a visitor's pass to gain access to the Army base. A picture ID (Driver's License), vehicle registration (or rental car agreement) and proof of insurance are required for the pass.
