J. H. Zimpelman, 56, native of Austin, died accidentally Friday morning from a gunshot wound in the head. His body was found at 6:30 a.m. by his wife in the backyard of their home at 902 East First Street.
Justice Maco B. Thurman Jr. conducted an inquest and returned a verdict of accidental death from gunshot wound. Mrs. Zimpelman told Thurman that her husband had risen Friday morning and put coffee on the stove as was his custom. When she went to look for him later, she found his body in the backyard.
A .44 caliber revolver, which his wife stated belonged to him, was found beside his body, and contained four unfired shells and one hull, Thurman said. The bullet entered the right side of the head apparently causing instant death.
Mr. Zimpelman was born in Austin and lived his entire life here, operating a grocery store for many years at his home address. He survived by his widow, Mrs. Mabel Zimpelman; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Soellmer of San Antonio; a sister, Mrs. Louise Corwin of Portland, Ore., and a brother, George Zimpelman of Fort Worth.
The body is at Cook Funeral home where a rosary service will be held where a rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at noon Friday

Mrs. Mildred Louise Corwin Nall, 87, of Murray, KY, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11:35 p.m. at the Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, KY. Mrs. Nall was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 16, 1922 to the late Dennis Miller Corwin and Sarah Louise Zimpelman Corwin. Mrs. Nall was a member of the St. Leo Catholic Church in Murray. Mrs. Nall was active in many different organizations and clubs, including a past member of the Murray Woman's Club, Murray Bridge Club, and member of the Toast Master Club, served as a past president of the Kentucky PTA and a past Girl Scout leader. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nall was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Nall, Jr. and one brother, Robert Corwin. Mrs. Nall is survived by two sons, Dennis C. Nall, Sr. and wife Vicky of Rosenberg, TX and William C. "Bud" Nall, III of Murray; one brother, Norman Corwin of California; four grandchildren, Dennis C. Nall, Jr. of Rosenberg, TX, Timothy A. Mary Alice was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Fort Worth, daughter of the late George B. and Frances E. Polhemus Zimpelman.
She graduated from Arlington Heights High School. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth and the Emerald Garden Club. Mary Alice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Zimpelman Jr.
Survivors: Husband of 71 years, Horace Butts; children, Teresa Miller and husband, Tom, Dennis Butts and wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Jason Miller and wife, Rachael, Caitlin Eckel and husband, Malcolm, Christopher Butts and wife, Kelly, and Ryan Butts; and her great-grandchildren, Ezra, Phaedra, Sylvie, Reagan and Rylee.

George Barnhardt Zimpelman Jr., 83, passed away Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2009, to be with the One born that day.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson's Harveson and Cole Funeral Home.

George was born July 1, 1926, in Fort Worth, son of the late Frances Polemus and George Barnhardt Zimpelman Sr. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Navy. He began his apprenticeship at General Engineering, the company his father started, ultimately moving up to become plumbing superintendent. After 43 years of service to General Engineering, he retired in 1991.
George married his beautiful Patricia on his birthday in 1950. The lived in Fort Worth, where they had four children, and celebrated 59 years of marriage this past summer. Holy Family Catholic Church was his church home.
Known for his wit, sense of humor and storytelling, he was the life of the party and was endeared to numerous friends. As a member of the Rose Society, he developed his hobby of cultivating roses and gardening. His favorite love and pastime was working at his beloved lake lot in Granbury to make it a haven of memories for him, his wife, family and friends to cherish.
Survivors: His wife, Patricia; children, Belinda Whiddon and her husband, Robert, of Fort Worth, Gloria Young and her husband, Ronny, of Bedford, Larry Zimpelman and his wife, Debbie, of Fort Worth, and Gary Zimpelman and his fiancee, Sharon DeCubellis, of Fort Worth; seven beautiful grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
