Esther Meidinger, 99, Ellendale, N.D., died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes, N.D.
Esther Elizabeth Brandner was born Oct. 25, 1910, in rural Zeeland, McIntosh County, North Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Merkel) Brandner. She married Rueben J. Meidinger on Feb. 1, 1933, in Zeeland. They farmed in the Zeeland and Wheatland, N.D., areas. In 1949, they purchased a farm southwest of Ellendale. They moved into Ellendale in 1978. He died in 1979. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale, the Sunshine Homemakers Club and the Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed quilting, attending circles at church, gardening and playing cards.
She is survived by three daughters, Loretta (Loren) Schulz, Edgeley, N.D., Madella (Harold) Scheffert, Guelph, N.D., and Betty Martin, Ellendale; two sons, Earl and Don (Cyd), both Ellendale; a sister, Freida Grace, Bismarck, N.D.; a daughter-in-law, Judy Vasvick, Ellendale; 19 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Howard; a daughter, Delyne; her parents; 14 siblings; two sons-in-law, Dale Martin and Les Heinrich; and a grandson, Brad Meidinger.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale, with the Rev. Tyson Labuhn officiating.
Prayer service: 7:30 p.m. today, Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.
Visitation: 2 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Burial: Ellendale City Cemetery, Ellendale.

Ellendale, ND-Gedenkgottesdienst für Earl John Meidinger, 73, aus Ellendale, findet am Samstag, den 3. September 2011, um 10:30 Uhr in der Kapelle des Prince of Peace Care Center statt. Rev. Galen Sylvester wird amtieren.
Die Beerdigung findet auf dem Ellendale City Cemetery statt.
Earl starb am 27. August 2011 im Oakes Community Hospital in Oakes, ND.
Earl wurde am 8. Januar 1938 in McIntosh County, ND, als Sohn von Ruben und Esther (Brandner) Meidinger geboren. Er lebte auf der Familienfarm, bis er in das Prince of Peace Care Center in Ellendale kam, wo er bis zu seinem Tod lebte.
Als Earl auf der Farm lebte, liebte er die Hunde. Nachdem er in die Stadt gezogen war, begrüßte Earl gerne Leute im Prince of Peace und diente einige Jahre als Türwächter. Er ging auch gerne ins Drive-Inn, um Eis zu essen.
Er hinterlässt einen Bruder, Don (Cyd) Meidinger aus Ellendale, drei Schwestern, Loretta (Loren) Schulz aus Edgeley, ND, Madilla (Harold) Scheffert aus Guelph, ND und Betty Martin aus Ellendale sowie eine Schwägerin. Judy Vasvick von Ellendale.
Earl im Tod vorausgehen seine Eltern, ein Bruder, Howard, eine Schwester, Delyne Heinrich, zwei Schwäger, Les Heinrich und Dale Martin, und ein Neffe, Brad Meidinger.
Ehrenurnenträger werden Earls Freunde im Prince of Peace Care Center sein.
