Ferdinand married Katharina WIDMER on the 5th of March 1832 in Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia. This union was blessed with 13 children; Anna Karolina, Andreas, Ferdinand, August, Michael, Wilhelm, Karl, Julianna, Dorothea, Wilhelmina, Louisa, Maria and Johannes.
Ferdinand died in Tarutino on the 2nd of May 1855 due to Rheumatisms.

Ein Ferdinand Krause oder ein Krause, der als sein Vater in Frage käme, taucht in Tarutino 1814 nicht auf. Erst 1820 übernimmt ein Michael Krause, aus Golin, Polen, die Wirtschaft Nr. 26, und zwar von Martin Klinge. Dessen dritte Frau war eine verwitete Millas. Michaels este Frau ist eine geborene Millas. Zusammenhang unklar. Dieser Michael Krause führt die Wirtschaft Nr. 26 bis zu seinem Tod 1831. Danach wird sie von Ferdinand Krause übernommen, ebenfals aus Golin, Polen. Es liegt nahe, daß er Michaels Sohn ist und mit ihm 1820 nach Tarutino gekommen ist.
Das Geburtsdatum weicht leicht ab. Todesdatum stimmt überein.
Es wird angegeben, daß er Oberschulz in Tarutino war (nicht in Alt-Posttal?).
Sommer 1855 war in Tarutino wieder eine schwere Cholera-Epidemie. War dies die Todesursache?

Ferdinand KRAUSE was born in Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia on the 10th of October 1836. On the 8th of November 1856 he married Christine GRAUNMANN.
Ferdinand was the Dorfschulz (mayor) of Tarutino in 1871-1874 and 1878-1881. He was reputed to be the best mayor Tarutino ever had.
Ferdinand was instrumental in placing a waterline that was paid for by the people of the church. This project was undertaken in the wintertime when the ground was frozen 1881-1882, and the grueling hard labor was compared to the work of the Israelites for the Egyptians.
There was a problem with the pipes (ordered from an English firm), and there was also much complaining to 'Herr Krause'. The work was finally completed in 1882, but Ferdinand died of typhoid fever just a few months later.
This water system was improved in later years and had three tall water towers that served the whole Dorf (village). All three of these towers were still in use in the mid 1990's.

Ferdinand Krause spoke a high German dialect. He was a farmer & saddler.
He died as a result of blood poisoning from a cut received while shaving.
His throat swelled up and he couldn't speak. He was struggling and trying to get out of bed. They didn't know what he wanted and thought he was hysterical so they held him down and gave him a needle. Then he wet the bed and they realized he had wanted to go to the bathroom. He never woke up from that needle.

Ferdinand KRAUSE the son of August KRAUSE and Katharina KRAUSE was born in Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia, on the 7th of August 1861. Ferdinand married Justine BIERWAG in Tarutino on the 7th of February 1885.
Ferdinand KRAUSE lived his entire life in Tarutino. As well as farming, Ferdinand enjoyed working with leather. He was the Dorfschulz ‘Mayor' of Tarutino in 1908 to 1911.
Ferdinand died in Tarutino at age 66, on the 1st of September 1927. Justine KRAUSE died in Germany during the period of encampment, after leaving Tarutino, on the 3rd of December 1940 in the hospital in Lauf, near Nuremburg.
Of the 10 children of Ferdinand KRAUSE and Justine (BIERWAG), 8 boys and 2 girls, the eldest son, Wilhelm, remained in Germany. The youngest son, Otto went missing during the war in 1945. (His wife Anna, son Arnold, daughters Eleonore and Erica immigrated to Canada.) The other 6 sons Eduard, Emil, Ferdinand, Johann (John), Alfred and Albert all immigrated to Canada, as well as the two daughters, Emma, and Anna (Krause) Budau. Emil, Ferdinand, John and Alfred came to Canada in the early 1900's. The other family members emigrated from Germany after the war.

Wilhelm KRAUSE born on the 22 of December 1885 in Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia was the eldest son of Ferdinand KRAUSE and Justine BIERWAG.
Wilhelm and his wife Emilie, lived in Klöstitz on the Ost family farm. In 1941 they were sent to the Warthegau area of Poland to work. With them was their daughter-in-law Erna and her son Erich. Their son, Albert was in the German army. (Elvira, their youngest daughter had died in 1927 at age 8.)
Their daughter, Anna (Geigle), was in the same vicinity of the Warthegau area staying with her husband's family. Her husband, Emil, was also in the German army, later he was imprisoned.
At the time of their flight from Poland in 1945, with the Russians an ever-present threat, Wilhelm, Emilie, Erna and Albert and Erna's young son, Erich, were traveling together.
The KRAUSE's daughter Anna, with her three small children, the twins and Fritz, traveled with the GEIGLE family.
They all survived this most difficult trek, and eventually made their home in the Stuttgart area of Germany. Albert KRAUSE, and later Emil GEIGLE arrived home safely after the war.

Eduard KRAUSE born the 13th of October 1887 in Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia was the son of Ferdinand KRAUSE and Justine BIERWAG.
The Eduard KRAUSE family and Aunt Emma, the Gottlieb BUDAU family and the Albert KRAUSE family were all placed in the West Prussian area of Poland in 1941, in the vicinity of Torun. They lived on prosperous farms for 4 years until the advance of the Russian front in January, 1945.
Because of the bitter cold and icy conditions, the horses were shod with special horse-shoes with added grips so they could get some foot-hold. The families traveled with the German Army, fleeing from the advance of the Russian troops.
The Eduard KRAUSE family had 3 wagons, one driven by Eduard, one by his daughter, Lola, and one by a hired man. These were loaded with fodder, household items and supplies – Wilma says they still have the original "Steppe-Kasten" (trunk) brought from Bessarabia by her parents.
The Eduard KRAUSE family and their nephew Arnold Krause emigrated in November, 1949 sailing on the Beaverbrae, and after spending some months in Hilda, Alberta, they settled in the Chilliwack, BC area.

He came to North America to avoid conscription in Russia. He left his home in Tarutino March 29, 1909 at the age of 19. He sailed from Libau, Latvia on April 20, 1909 on the Russian-East Asiatic Steamship Co. Ltd. Russia-America Line. The ship was named the SS Lituania. He arrived at New York, N.Y. on May 06, 1909.
He wanted to look up his great uncle, John Krause, in S. Dakota, but John had since moved to Iowa and it was too far for Emil to travel. He then went to Edward Krause's in the Dakotas.
His description upon entry to the U.S. was: White, dark complexion, 5'8", 175 lbs., brown hair, blue eyes, with no distinctive marks.
He left the Dakotas and came to Canada in 19ll to Hilda, Alberta where he met Maria Kern. He was the closest neighbor of the Kerns. The first time he saw her was when one day he went to the Kerns and Maria and her brother, Gotthilf, were in a pit mixing manure and straw with their bare feet. This was used as mortar in the sod buildings. He wanted to have a good look at this young girl but all he could see was her thick curly black hair. In 1912 he asked her father to marry her. He was flatly refused because of her age. Her mother told Emil to come to her next time. So he did. He got her permission, drove to Irvine where Maria was working as a maid for some people named Kalmbach. He picked her up, then went to Medicine Hat to pick up Maria's two brothers, Jack & Fred, who were working there, and they were the witnesses. To pay them for their services, Emil took them to a show in Medicine Hat while Maria sat alone in the hotel.
Emil was naturalized in Canada September 24, 1914.
They farmed at Hilda, Alberta until 1944 when they moved to Chilliwack, B.C. They had an acreage there and grew fruits and vegetables, and had a few animals. Emil liked to brew his own wine and brandy, and when guests came they always had to tast a little of his "juice".
After Maria died, Emil remarried to a widow, but that widow was senile and had to be put in a home.
In the late 1970's his children moved him to Ponoka where he was under the care of his eldest daughter, Emma. He died in a nursing home in Ponoka.

In order to avoid conscription into the Russian military at the age of 19, on the 29th of March 1909 he left Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia. Emil the first member of the Ferdinand KRAUSE family to leave South Russia, then sailed from the port of Libau (Liepaja), LATVIA on the 20th of Apr 1909 and arrived at Ellis Island, New York aboard the "SS LITUANIA" on the 6th May 1909.
The ship's manifest revealed that his final destination was Kulm, LaMoure County, North Dakota, to meet up with his friend Ferdinand BIERWAGEN. On arrival in America Emil apparently also had 34 dollars in his pocket of whatever currency it may have been at that time. It is believed that while living in America he worked for an uncle in North Dakota.
However the "1910 US Federal Census" on the 14th of Jun 1910 revealed that Emil was living with and working on the CONRAD Family Homestead, which was located about 5 miles northeast of the village of Kulm, North Dakota. There he was recorded as a 20 year old single Russian born, German speaking Hired Man/Farm Laborer that immigrated to America in 1909. Emil's employer David CONRAD, was listed as a 27 year old Russian born English speaking married farmer that immigrated to America in 1902.
Emil immigrated to Canada in 1911 and shortly thereafter took up a 320 acre homestead 10 miles west of Hilda, Alberta on Sec 32, Twp 17, Rge 2, W4. He married the neighbor's daughter Maria (Mary) KERN shortly before her 16th birthday in 1912 in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
In 1927, Emil moved his family north of Ponoka where he rented a farm. They moved back to Hilda in 1928 to the homestead where they remained until 1944 when they moved to Chilliwack, British Columbia.

Wilma Pauline Giesler passed away on June 9th 2008 at the Chilliwack General Hospital at age 81. She was born on November 28th 1926 in Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia.
Wilma is survived by her son Dennis, his wife Mary, and grandchildren David (Nadine), Tim, Rick, Joe, and Mieka Giesler. She was predeceased by husband Oscar in August of 2006.
Mom and her family fled Bessarabia in 1940 going to Germany where they spent the war years around Bremen. She immigrated with her family to Canada in 1949, first to Alberta before coming to BC in 1951.
She married Oscar in 1953. They farmed on Promontory Hill for 40 years. After the herd was moved to the valley, she spent her later years with her two favorite pastimes – grandchildren and gardening. Up to fall of last year she was constantly busy on her yard.
