Shirley A. Halaychik (nee Schilb) of Altamonte Springs, FL, formerly of Yonkers, died July 2, 2003. She was 67. Widow of John Halaychik, Jr., Shirley was a 911 Emergency Dispatcher for the City of Yonkers Police Department and Fire Department for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. Shirley was also an emergency medical technician for Empress Ambulance Service in Yonkers and stationed at Yonkers Raceway. She was born March 23, 1936 to Louis H. Schilb and Margaret A. Jones of Yonkers. Mrs. Halaychik attended local public schools and was a graduate of Gorton High School. She is survived by a son, John Halaychik III of Altamonte Springs, FL; her stepmother, Virginia Schilb of Tallahassee, FL; four sisters, Lauren Coleman of NY, Arleen Schilb of CT, Susan Horman of UT, Florence Schilb of OR and eight brothers, Louis Schilb of NY, Robert Schilb of CT, Ronald Schilb of FL, Stewart Schilb of CT, Greg Schilb of TX, Douglas Schilb of GA, John Schilb of FL and Thomas Schilb of FL. A brother Richard Schilb predeceased her. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass Monday 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church.
