    George E. Pheil 88, formerly of Mercersburg, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct.27, 1998, in the Shook Home, Chambersburg, where he resided since April 1996.
    Born June 20, 1910, in Montgomery Township, he was a son of the late Harry C. and Viola Sites Pheil.
    As a young man, he farmed and later worked at the former Fairchild Industries, Hagerstown Md. He was also a former employee of H.R. Cordell and Seth Metcalfe plumbing companies. In 1972, he retired with 18 years of service from Tuscarora School District, Mercersburg, where he was head of maintenance.
    Mr. Pheil was a member of Mercersburg Sportsman's Association and a former member of bowling teams of Buchanan Lanes, Mercersburg. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
    Mildred Beck Pheil, his wife died on Dec. 29,1991.
    Surviving are a son, Carlton E. Pheil; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A sister, a grandson and a great grandson also preceded him in death.
    Service at the Lininger- Fries funeral home Mercersburg. The Revs. Craig Loewen and Duane Beck will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

    Carlton E. Pheil,78 of Chambersburg, Pa. died Friday June 17, 2016 at West Shore Pinnacle Hospital, Mechanicsburg,Pa.
    Born April 25, 1938 at Chambersburg, he was the son of the late George E. and Mildred Beck Pheil.
    Carlton was a 1956 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg. Following graduation he was employed at the former Maun's Garage of Lemasters, for several years. Later he worked for Eastern Airlines and Henson Aviation of Hagerstown, Md. He was last employed by Penndot of Chambersburg, as a diesel mechanic. Carlton retired in December 1991 following 21 years of service.
    He was a motorcycle enthusiast and rode BMW and Gold Wing. He enjoyed festivals, working on small engines, and the companionship of his cats. His memberships include Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Eastern Airlines Retirees Association.
    Carlton attended Heidlersburg Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Gettysburg.
    Surviving family include his wife,Patricia G. Nelson Pheil, whom he married April 23, 1976. Four children,Cherie and husband Craig Loewen of Gettysburg, Annette and husband Greg Martin of Chambersburg and Edward C. Pheil and wife Terresa Pheil of Delanson, NY. and Kirby and wife Laura Pheil of Chambersburg. Nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one great granddaughter. Carlton was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Pheil who died 12-31-1994.
    A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday June 25,2016 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., in Mercersburg, with Pastor Craig Loewen Officiating.

    Timothy J. Pheil,22, of 2351 Shinham Road, Greencastle, died Saturday, Dec. 31,1994, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
    Born Feb.28,1972, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Carlton E. Pheil of 3419 Edenville Road, Chambersburg, and Linda Diehl Bingaman of 2351 Shinham Road, Greencastle.
    He was a 1990 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.
    He was an auto mechanic with Forrester Lincoln Mercury Inc.,
    Chambersburg. He had been working there since 1988.
    He had attended Ebenizer United Brethren Church, Greencastle.
    He enjoyed snow boarding and mountain biking.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by a stepmother, Patricia G. Pheil of Chambersburg; a stepfather, Lloyd E. Bingaman of Greencastle;maternal grandparents, Leslie and Carrie Diehl of Chambersburg; a paternal grandfather, George E. Pheil of Chambersburg; two sisters, Cherie L. Loewen of Marion and C. Annette Martin of Chambersburg; two brothers, Edward C. Pheil of Delanson, N.Y.,and Kirby L. Pheil of Clovis, N.M.; four stepbrothers and stepsisters, Mindy Bingaman, Carley Bingaman and Colby Bingaman all of Greencastle, and Linn Bingaman of Blackburg, Va.; four nieces and four nephews.
    Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, Greencastle, with the Revs.Glen A.Miller and Terry Bakner officiating.
    Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
    The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
