The funeral for Katherine Bitz, 99, Jamestown, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cleveland Seventh-day Adventist Church, with the Rev. Allen Myers officiating. burial will be in the Medina Seventh-day Adventist Cemetary. .. She died Tuesday. Katherine Harr was born April 1, 1891, near Wishek, and attended school near Cleveland. She was the daughter of Daniel and Katherina (Mauch) Harr. She married John A. Bitz March 10, 1913, in Jamestown. They lived on a farm near Cleveland until retiring abnd moving into Cleveland. He died in 1946. In the early 1970s, she moved to Jamestown, wehre she had been a resident of Hi-Acres manor Nursing Center since 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Ethel Gallagher and Virginia Job, both Jamestown; two sisters, Rose Bietz, Lincoln, Neb.; and Lydia Haas, Boise, Idaho; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, one son, one daughter, one great-granddaughter, one sister, nine brothers, and her parents

Laura G. Gross, 73, Carrington, died Tuesday in Carrington Health Center. .. Mrs. Gross, the former Laura Bitz, was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Cleveland, Stutsman County, the daughter of John and Katherine (Harr) Bitz. She received her education in the local schools. She and Daniel Gross were married May 30, 1935, at Jamestown. In 1936, they moved to Carrington and farmed in Longview Township, Foster County, where the home had been since. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. John Hoppe (Yvonne), Carrington, Mrs. Carl Beck (Jeanette), Virginia Beach, VA, Mrs. Gary Morlock (Catherine), Sidney, MT; three sons, Robert, Daniel Jr. and Kenneth, all of Carringto; her mother, Katherine Bitz, Jamestown; two sisters, Mrs. Rueben Job (Virginia), and Mrs. Byron Gallagher (Ethel), both of Jamestown; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, one son and one granddaughter

Ethel Gallagher, 84, Jamestown, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown. Ethel Bitz was born June 16, 1917, north of Cleveland, ND, the daughter of John and Katherina (Harr) Bitz. she received her elementary education in the local rural school later attending Sheyenne River Academy, Harvey, ND. She then attended Valley City (ND) State College, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school in Stutsman and Kidder counties. She married John B. "Byron" Gallagher April 9, 1949, at Cleveland. They lived in Pnegree, ND, until moving to Jamestown in 1984. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown, and VFW Auxiliary, Carrington; and a lifetime member of the DAV. She is survived by her husband; a son, Bruce (Nancy), Jamestown; a sister, Virginia Job, Jamestown; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister

Jamestown Sun, Jamestown, ND, 23 Aug 1974.
Funeral services for Wilbur Edmund Bitz of Bismarck, former resident of the Cleveland community.. Mr. Bitz died Friday in St. Alexis Hospital, Bismarck, after apparently suffering a heart attack. Born Jan. 7, 1922, in Valley Springs Township, Stutsman County, Mr. Bitz was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Bitz. He attended school in Valley Springs Township, was graduated from Sheyenne River Academy at Harvey, and attended Union College in Lincoln, NE, for two years. He worked with his parents on their farm north of Cleveland for a time. In 1952 he began work with the Northern Pacific Railway in the storeroom at Jamestown, and later worked at Dilworth, MN, for a time. For the past 12 years he had been employed with the railroad, now the Burlington Northern, in Bismarck and Mandan as a car clerk. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mr. Bitz is survived by five children, Gary Bitz, Bismarck; Wilbur Jr., Greg and Steven Bitz, and Mrs. Marion Hanje (Kathy), all of Denver, CO; his mother, Mrs. Katherine Bitz, Jamestown; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Reuben Job (Virginia), Jamestown; Mrs. Daniel Gross (Laura), carrington, and Mrs. Byron Gallagher (Ethel), Pingree

Bitz was born June 27, 1928, in Jamestown, the daughter of John and Katherine (Harr) Bitz. She attended and graduated from Cleveland (ND) High School, Cleveland. She taught high school in Cleveland and later in rural areas of southeast ND. She married Rueben Job on April 1, 1949, in Herreid, SD. They lived in Jamestown where she was a teacher's aide in the Jamestown Public School system for many years. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Jamestown, and the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, Patty (Nick) Wagner, Mercer, ND; son, Palmer (Diane), Jamestown; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Perry; her parents; two sisters, Ethel Gallagher and Laura Gross; and a brother, Wilbur
