    William and brother Charles Beebe moved from Minnesota to the Edgerton area about 1883 and started farming. William was also a harness maker, which he continued after moving to Platte in 1899.
    The Shindler family also moved from Minnesota to the Edgerton area in the early 1800s to try farming in a new area. (1885 census)
    Margaret Shindler had 3 children with William. She left him and the children in the 1890's. Margaret met and married a man named Green and had a child with him in Nebraska. He died about 1900 and Margaret remained in Nebraska and many years later, died there.
    Will married Pearl Hawkins in 1900 and also was a saloon keeper in the new town of Platte. He lived the rest of his life in Platte except for a few years in Sioux Falls, SD where Pearl was from.

    Gladys was born March 17, 1921 in Platte, SD to Edgar and Ella (Lund) Beebe. She died June 6, 2011 in Sioux Falls at the age of 90 years, two months and 19 days.
    She was raised in Platte and graduated from high school there. Gladys married August Eisenbraun December 14, 1940 at Bristow, Neb. He worked as manager of Fullerton Lumber Co. in Hettinger, ND and Corsica, Kimball and Platte, SD where Gladys was the secretary. They moved to Centerville where they both worked for Independent Lumber Co.
    She was active in her children's lives. She was a 4H leader, Cub Scout leader, band parent, PTA officer and athletic booster club. Gladys loved to fish, camp and travel with her husband and attending the activities of her children and grandchildren. She was involved with her church activities, Red Hat, Garden Club and Eastern Star where she was a 50 year member serving many offices including Worthy Matron and long time Secretary.
    Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Janice Lee (Ronald) Hoffman of Fargo, ND; sons, Douglas (Mona) of Virginia Beach, VA, Robert (Mary) of Denison, IA and Gary (Kristi) of Colorado Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, brother, Arlo Beebe of Tacoma, WA; sister-in-law, Marge Beebe of Shakopee, MN and brother-in-law, Gary (Jo) Eisenbraun of Laughlin, NV. Her parents, husband, two sisters, Lillian and Janel and one brother, Bob preceded her in death.
    Gladys was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
    Funeral services for Gladys will be 1PM Friday, June 10, 2011 at Centerville United Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 2-8PM Thursday at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 5-7 and an Eastern Star service at 7PM.
