Thos. Scarborough Sen. departed his life Jan. 31, 1881. He was born Nov. 10th, 1810 at Wranby, Lincolnshire, England.
In August 1831, he married Caroline Wattam, and immediately emigrated to this country, settling in LaPorte county, Indiana, in September of the same year.
In June 1879 he removed to Merrick county, this state, where he resided until his death. He leaves a wife and nine children to mourn the loss of husband and father. Three of his children preceded him to the land unknown to the living.

Mrs. J. O. Rawlings Dies in Central City -
Anna Pearl Curtis was born at Palmer, October 7, 1882 to Lyman and Ida Scarborough Curtis. In 1901 she moved with her parents to Wheatland, Wyoming.
She was married to John Rawlings at Wheatland on May 28, 1902 and in 1907 they came to the Archer community where they have since lived on a farm, except for a few years in Central City.
Surviving are eight children, Mrs. Lillie Stander of Archer, Leonard of Wallingford, Iowa; Cecil and Mrs. Nita Watkins of Central City; Mrs. Pauline Mapes of Wickenburg, Arizona; Mrs. Opal Neel of Bancroft; Mrs. Gertrude Williams of North Platte and Mrs. Bethel Held of Cozad, one brother, Merle of Denver; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Reed of Wheatland, Mrs. Grace Trevi??? [part of line illegible] of Pueblo and Zela S??ner, Phoenix; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Leota P. (Rawlings) Baird, 92, of Raleigh, NC passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020. She was born July 9, 1927 to Cecil and Mildred Rawlings at the home of her grandparents in Archer, Nebraska.
Leota graduated from high school, 1944 in Fullerton, Nebraska.
She and Jack were married in 1949. After their wedding, they lived in various locations across the U.S. while Jack completed graduate school and his military service in the US Navy. They moved to Raleigh, NC in 1964 where they continued raising their three sons.
Leota was a long time member of Highland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing with the Star Twirlers, traveling and visiting family in Nebraska. Leota worked part time in the NCSU Food Science Department as a food profile panelist and the N.C. State Fair with the home furnishing department. She was also a member of the Hidden Hills Garden Club. Some of her personal interests were needle work, sewing, crafts and baking.
Preceding her in death are her parents Cecil and Mildred; her beloved husband Jack; brothers, Jack, Wendell, Lloyd and sister Delores Gleason; sisters-in-law Aileen Rawlings, Janie Rawlings and brother in law Gerald Gleason.
She is survived by her sons, Warren (Jean), Byron (Patty), Craig (Teresa); grandchildren, Ellen Blalock (Joseph), Melissa Upchurch (Alex), Holland Baird, Justin Baird, Jack Baird; great-grandchildren, Clark and Henry Blalock. She is also survived by brothers, John and Cecil (Pam); sister, Arlene Kirk (Wayne), sisters-in-law, Joyce Rawlings and Betty Zeilinger (Howard) and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a gratitude of thanks for the support and prayers of friends and family. Services will be held on Saturday, March 7th, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland United Methodist Church in Raleigh, with a visitation to follow at the church.

Delores L. Gleason, 87, of Lincoln, formerly of Central City, Nebraska died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Country House in Lincoln. Funeral services will be Monday, November 12, 2018 at Fairview United Methodist Church in Central City at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Lauri Beach officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery in Central City.
Delores was born on November 21, 1930 to Cecil C. and Mildred L. (Suck) Rawlings in Archer, Nebraska.
She grew up in the Archer and Central City area and graduated from Central City High School with the class of 1948. Delores attended Nebraska Central College from 1948-1950 and then worked as a teacher until 1951.
On May 20, 1951, Delores was united in marriage to Gerald M. Gleason. The couple made their home North of Central City and Archer until 1998 when they moved into Central City after retirement. Delores and Gerald made a final move in 2012 to Lincoln to an assisted living community.
Delores was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star #200 and a 70 year member of the Fairview United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald of Lincoln, NE; her five daughters, Kathleen and Yurij Holowinsky of Maryville, TN, Donna and Michael Kersjes of Wyoming, MI, Sandra Gleason of Lincoln, NE, Karolee Gleason of Norfolk, NE, and Robin and Tim Pulver of Lincoln, NE; sisters, Leota Baird, Arlene and Wayne Kirk; brothers, John Oren and Janie Rawlings, and Cecil and Pam Rawlings; sisters-in-law, Joyce Rawlings, and Geraldine Kaiser; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lloyd Rawlings, Wendell Rawlings, and Jack and Aileen Rawlings; and brother-in-law, Jack Baird.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Albert Suck home for their grandson, Lloyd LeRoy Rawlings, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rawlings residing east of Cotesfield. The child, less than 2 years old, was the victim of accidental drowning in a water tank last Friday evening.
Besides his parents, two brothers and two sisters survive, Jack, John, Leota and Delores. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Rawlings of Archer are his grandparents on his father's side.
Rev. Glen Fry of Archer conducted the funeral servcies, and burial was made in the Evangelical cemetery west of Archer.
The bereaved family have the deepest sympathy of their many friends and relatives in this locality.

Wendell Lowell Rawlings, 77 of Spearfish, passed away at the David M Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish on Wednesday, January 21, 2014.
Wendell was born to Cecil and Mildred Rawlings on October 8, 1936, near the small farming community of Archer, Nebraska.
He spent most of his childhood on the farm; it was there that his strong work ethic and morals were established. He married the love of his life, Joyce Whitener, on October 11, 1957 and their marriage was strong for over 56 years. Wendell graduated from Central City High School in Central City, NE in 1954. He then pursued a career as a lab technician in the healthcare field, wherein he received his Associates Degree. Wendell quickly moved from lab technician to administration.
In 1965, Wendell and his family moved to Spearfish SD, where he took on the responsibilities as the administrator of Lookout Memorial Hospital, a position he held for the next 22 years. After Spearfish, Wendell and Joyce moved to Lisbon, ND and then Red Lodge, MT where he was the administrator of their healthcare facilities.
Wendell loved to live, and enjoyed a rich a full life. He retired at the early age of 55 so that he and Joyce could enjoy their time.
They immediately moved back to Black Hills and spent the next 15 years exploring America in their RV. He was an avid fisherman and cross country skier, and spent much of his time in the outdoors.
He also took up woodcarving and began creating beautiful carvings of waterfowl, which were displayed in local galleries.
Wendell was a good man, a good husband, and a wonderful father. His family was everything to him. His good and gentle nature made him liked by all that came in contact with him.
In his last years Wendell suffered from Alzheimer's. Much of the time he was back on his childhood farm where his upbringing had shaped the man he was to become. Yet he never forgot Joyce. She was his shining star. They had the type of love that defines the word. He passed peacefully with his family at his side. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, his son Jerry (Elise) of Spearfish; two brothers, Oren (Janie) of Raleigh, NC, Cecil (Pam) of Grand Island, NE; three sisters, Leota (Warren) Baird of Raleigh, NC, Delores(Gerald) Gleason of Lincoln, NE, and Arlene (Wayne) Kirk of Little Rock, Arkansa;, two grand-children, Durand Youngs and Alexis Rigby (John Krambek); and two great-grand children, Keegan and Carter Krambek. His parents, Cecil and Mildred, and two brothers, Jack and Lowell, preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Fidler-Isburg Chapel in Spearfish.
