    Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Paul Kenny were held last Saturday at 2 p.m. at Palmer Church of Christ for Mrs. T. A. Gee, who died Wednesday morning of last week. A large crowd was in attendance.
    Pall bearers were six grandsons: Dick, Jay, Lisle, Marvin Dean Gee, Claude Scott and Paul Liberty.
    Flower girls were granddaughters, Marjorie Scott, Gertrude Gee, Bernita Nelson, Ella Jean Joseph, Alma Liberty and Evelyn Davis.
    Chloe Peregrine, daughter of George and Alvira Peregrine, was born in Adams County, Iowa on February 11, 1873 and died at Palmer, Nebraska on December 13, 1944 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 2 days.
    At the age of ten she came with her parents to Clay County, Nebraska, later moving to Nance County where she lived with her parents until she was united in marriage February 12, 1891 to Truman A. Gee in Fullerton, Nebraska.
    To this union six children were born, five of whom are living: Lena Scott of Palmer, Lura Wilson of Washington, Kansas, George of Watsonville, California, John of Chapman, Nebraska, Alvah of Palmer and Ella Liberty, who passed away in 1919.
    For nine years they lived on a farm five miles south of Fullerton. In 1900 they moved to their present home near Palmer, Nebraska where she passed away.
    She united with the Christian church at the age of 16. She was a devoted Christian, active in Sunday School work and church work. She never missed a church service without a very good reason.
    February 12, 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Gee celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary when all five living children, all but 4 of the 21 grandchildren and all of Mrs. Gee's four sisters and three brothers were present.
    She was a devoted wife and mother. Besides her own family, she cared for two orphaned grandchildren.
    Her life was one of service. Many home in her community can testify to her good deeds in time of sickness or need. She was highly respected by all who knew her.
    Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her passing three brothers, three sisters, 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

    Truman Alvah Gee, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Truman Gee, was born July 1, 1897 on a farm between Palmer and Fullerton. He passed away at his home in Palmer March 30, 1956 at the age of 58 years, 8 months and 29 days, following many months of ill health.
    He was united in marriage to Etoile Colborn on June 28, 1919. To this union were born eight children.
    He became a member of the Palmer Church of Christ on October 10, 1908. He was a charter member of the American Legion.
    Alvah Gee was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ella Liberty and Lena Scott.
    He is survived by his wife, Etoile; his children, Mrs. Gertrude Andrews of Denver, Colorado, Wayne of Palmer, Richard of Grand Island, Mrs. Virginia Leth of St. Paul, Jay of Central City, Lyle of Palmer, Mrs. Betty Killion of Palmer, Suzanne of Palmer, one sister, Mrs. Lura Wilson of Mahaska, Kansas; two brothers, George Gee of Watsonville, California, John Gee of Central City; many, many relatives and a host of friends.

She also enjoyed working with the Veteran's Museum typing many veteran service records. She had served on the Board of Directors for the Howard County Historical Society. She was typist for the Entering Howard County book, helping with Education on the Plains and the Family Scrapbooks.

    Former Hastings resident Melvin E "Mel" Leth, 50, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Aug 28, 2002, at his home.
    Services are Monday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev William Voelker officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St Paul.
    Mr Leth was born Dec 4, 1951 to Ray and Virginia (Gee) Leth in Grand Island. He was raised in St Paul and graduated from St Paul Public Schools in 1970 He then attended Kearney State College. On Oct 6, 1973, he married Marilyn jacobson in Worms. They lived in St Libory and Grand Island from 1973-85 where he worked for Agricultural Services in Grand Island, for Goodyear Tire in St Paul and
    Grand Island, and also Meyers Farm Equipment in Grand Island. In 1985, they moved to Hastings and he worked for Aid Association for Lutherans for 16 years.
    In 2001, they moved to Grand island where he was employed as a leasing officer for United Nebraska Bank.
    He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island where he served on the church board and was president of AAL Branch. He also served on the Faith Lutheran Church Board in Hastings and was a past member of the Hastings Optimist Club. He helped Habitat for Humanity and coached little league football.
    Survivors are his wife, one son Joshua of Hastings; one daughter, Jodi Van Emmerik of Humboldt, SD.; his parents of St Paul; one brother, Gary of St Paul and one sister Karen Janulewicz of Farwell.
    He was preceded in death by one sister and his grandparents.
