BRADY — Lee Geoffrey "Jeff" Gemar, 51, of Brady, died of natural causes Monday at a Great Falls hospital.
His funeral is 3 p.m. Friday at the Fort Benton High School Gymnasium with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
Survivors include his children Mollee Ann of Fort Benton, Corey Lee "Jake," and Luke Geoffrey, of Brady; his brother, Les and sister-in-law, Denise of Carter; his sister Kari of Phoenix; and Bubba of Brady. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jeff was born Feb. 1, 1954, at the Columbus Hospital in Great Falls. He grew up in Great Falls and on the family farm north of town. He attended school in Great Falls, graduating from CMR in 1972 with, as he would say, "straight A's."
He married Gail Ellsworth in 1975. They divorced in 2003.
Jeff farmed near Manchester until 1979. He then farmed with his boys northwest of Carter until his death.
Growing up, he was a member of DeMolay, First United Methodist Church and choir. He was also an elected member of the Fort Benton School Board for nine years.
Jeff loved camping and fishing at the Judith, hunting, basketball, his dogs, and anything his children were involved in. Jeff's proudest accomplishments were his three children. He never missed a game, activity, program or any moment he could spend with them. He was always friendly and available to lend a hand to many neighbors, friends and acquaintances. He was someone who many looked up to and considered a lifelong friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Lois; a brother, Casey; an infant grandson, Matthew Scot; and a nephew, Landon Gemar.
Memorials are suggested to the Jeff Gemar Fort Benton High School Fund, 34225 Bootlegger Trail, Brady, MT 59416, which will support programs and activities through the Fort Benton School Foundation.
