Bertha Timmens, 100, aus Avon starb am Montag, dem 28. Mai 2012, bei der Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.
Trauergottesdienste finden am Freitag, den 1. Juni 2012, um 10:30 Uhr in der Zion Lutheran Church in Avon statt. Die Beerdigung findet auf dem Zion Lutheran Cemetery im ländlichen Avon statt.
Die Visitation findet donnerstags von 17 bis 19 Uhr in der Kirche statt, gefolgt von einer 19 Uhr. Gebetsdienst.

Berha Louise Helene Timmens wurde am 9. Juli 1911 in Avon, South Dakota, als Tochter von David und Caroline (Bredehoft) Brandt geboren. Sie starb am Montag, den 28. Mai 2012 bei der Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. Bertha wurde 100 Jahre, 10 Monate und 19 Tage alt.
Bertha besuchte die Schule bis zur achten Klasse in Avon. Anschließend arbeitete sie als Dienstmädchen in Sioux City, IA.
Bertha heiratete Homer Timmens am 6. Juni 1945 in Avon. Sie lebten in Montfort, WI, bis sie 1946 nach Avon zogen. Zusammen bewirtschafteten sie bis zu ihrer Pensionierung. Homer starb am 19. Juni 1986. Bertha trat im Juli 2010 dem Barmherzigen Samariterbund bei.
Bertha war Mitglied der Zion Lutheran Church, wo sie viele Jahre als Organistin, LWML-Mitglied und Sonntagsschullehrerin tätig war. Sie war auch mehrere Jahre lang eine 4H-Führungskraft.
Bertha wird für ihre Liebe zum Geschichtenerzählen und Telefonieren in Erinnerung bleiben.
Dankbar dafür, ihr Leben geteilt zu haben, sind ihre Schwägerin Dorothy Brandt aus Avon; Nichten und Neffen: Kenneth und Frau Florence Powers of Avon; Dale und Ehefrau Nancy Powers aus Campbell, NY; Diane (Brandt) und Ehemann John Boheman von Sioux Falls; Jean Marie (Powers) und Ehemann Russell Borchers aus Beaver Creek, MN; Arlen und Frau Sharon Brandt von Emery; Betty Sherer von Sioux Falls; und zahlreiche Ur- und Ur-Ur-Nichten und Neffen und Cousins.
Bertha gingen ihre Eltern im Tod voraus; Ehemann, Homer; Schwester, Rosella Powers; Bruder, Alvin Brandt; Schwager Lester Powers und Neffe Ronald Brandt.

Alvin E. Brandt was born October 21, 1921 at Avon, SD, the son of David and Caroline “Lena” (Bredehoft) Brandt. He died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall, SD. Alvin attained the age of 90 years, one month and six days.
Alvin married Dorothy Schulz at the ZIon Lutheran Church in Hurley on October 17, 1948. Together they farmed.
Alvin was a faithful, lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Avon, where he served as treasurer for many years. He was an Archer Oil dealer for 50 years and also served as the county manager for Archer Oil. Alvin was also a Meadow View Manor board member.
Alvin will be remembered for his love of being with his family, the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, reading, gardening and rock collecting.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Dorothy of Avon; daughter, Diane (John) Boheman of Sioux Falls; son, Arlen (Sharon) Brandt of Emery; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betty Scherer of Sioux Falls; and sister, Bertha Timmens of Tyndall.
Alvin was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Brandt on December 20, 1979; parents; sister, Rosella Powers; and brothers-in-law: Homer Timmens and Lester Powers.
Funeral services are 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 2, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon. Burial is in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Avon. Visitation is at the church on Thursday from 4 PM until 7 PM, followed by a 7 PM Prayer Service. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon is in charge of arrangements.
