A memorial service will be held Oct. 25 for Arnie Valentine Peter of Eugene, who died Oct. 7 of age-related causes. He was 90.
Peter was born Sept. 5, 1915, in Sutton, Neb., to Herman and Louise Peter. He married Lucille Ingwersen on Jan. 9, 1937, in Nebraska. She died March 31, 1999.
He moved from Nebraska to Eugene in 1940. He had worked as a welder for Guistina Lumber and as a welding instructor at Lane Community College. He enjoyed collecting tractors, farming and cattle ranching. He belonged to several area lodges, including the Elks.
Peter lived in Eugene until 1975, then moved to Pleasant Hill. He moved back to Eugene in 2003. He had lived in Lane County for 65 years.
Survivors include two sisters, Cecilia Linder of Eugene and Loretta Rich; a brother, Harlan; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Roger, died Oct. 25, 2002.
Tuesday's service will be at 11 a.m. at Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene.
