Adin H. Mumma of Mount Joy departed this life peacefully on February 9, 2015 in his home.
He was 94. Born in Florin, PA on June 20, 1920, he was the son of the late Leah Hawbaker and Levi W. Mumma. A World War II veteran, he served in the Eighth Air Force in England at the rank of Technical Sergeant. He completed 35 missions as a flight radio operator.
Adin was married to the late Jeanne E. Stoner for over 68 years. From 1946 to 1966 they owned and operated Mumma's Hardware in Mount Joy, which was established by his father in 1916.
After selling the business, he was an Assistant District Supervisor in the maintenance department of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, where he was employed from 1967 to 1987 in the Bowmansville office. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Adin was an active member of Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church. Throughout the years he taught Sunday School and served as a conference delegate as well as both Sunday School and Bible School superintendents. He is remembered as a godly and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by four children: Carole A., wife of Ron Maley of Landisville; Adin David, husband of Jade Yang of Palmyra; Heather J. Mumma, wife of Dr. Jeffrey Harner of York and Melody A., wife of Richard Mountsier of Harrisburg. Additionally, he is survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church,
800 Donegal Springs Road, Mount Joy on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11 AM. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment at the family's convenience.
