  Uwe Zimbelmann: Burial:Edgar Cemetery Edgar, Clay County, Nebraska, USA http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=35052393 Another pioneer has left us in the death of Carl August Slatt of Edgar, who passed away July 18, 1938, at the ripe old age of 87 years, 11 months and 15 days. Mr Slatt was born in Hjelmsyrd Province of Jonkoping, Sweden, August 3, 1850. In 1853 he came with his parents to Andover, Illinois, where he was confirmed in the Lutheran church, June 3, 1866. He was united in marriage to Mathilda Ericson in 1871, who preceded him in death in 1920. To this union five children were born of whom two died in infancy. He came to Edgar in 1881 and became a charter member of the Gethsemane Lutheran church of Edgar, now of Ong. The Slatt family moved to Oakland in 1891 and from there to Funk, where Mrs Slatt died. Mr Slatt returned to Edgar in 1922 and reunited with the Gethsemane church January 1, 1923. Funeral services were conducted from the home in Edgar Wednesday afternoon, July 20, with Rev A Walfred Anderson of Saronville in charge. The Misses Irene and Lorene Anderson say, "We Are Going Down the Valley" at the home and "Nearer My God to Thee" at the grave. Pastor Anderson also gave a Swedish song which was a request of the deceased. The following sons and grandsons served as pallbearers; Emil Slatt of Grand Island, Gust Lindberg of Saronville, Theo. Slatt of Fremont, John V Slatt of Tekamah, Frank Ledway of Grand Island and Henry Slatt of Oakland. Interment was in the Edgar cemetery. He leaves to mourn his passing, one daughter, Mrs August Anderson of Saronville and two sons, John V of Tekamah and Henry of Oakland, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends one son Theodore Hjalmar Emil 1876 - 1878 died in Illinois
