Edith Elisabeth (Brandner) Glanz of Yuma died Friday, December 21, 1990, in the Yuma Life Care where she had been a resident for 13 years. She was the sister of Marie Serr of Sutton.
Services were held December 24 at the United Methodist Church in Yuma with Evangelist Bernerd Buchanan and the Reverend Samuel Hemphill officiating. Interment was made beside her husband in the Yuma Cemetery.
Born February 24, 1903, in Aurora, Illinois, she was the second of the 13 children of Fred and Anna Marie (Zimbelman) Brandner. After completing the eighth grade in Sutton School, she worked for Dr. Welsh, M.D., until she met Henry Glanz and they were married January 21, 1930, in Clay.
In June of 1948, the Glanzes moved to the Lone Star Community in Colorado where they were janitors of the school system there for 18 years. In 1966, they retired and moved to Yuma.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two brothers, three sisters, one stepson, Gerald, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Survivors include her stepdaughters, Helen Huntly, and Marie and husband Orville Duden of Hastings; two sons, Joseph Glanz and wife, Marcella, of Yuma, and Ronald Glanz and wife, Cindy of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four brothers and three sisters, Rufus Brandner and wife, Helen, and Fred Brandner and wife, Velma, all of Yuma; Mrs. Serr; Harvey Brandner and wife, Odetta, of Seaford, Delaware; Maurice Brandner and wife, Jean of Millsboro, Delaware; Ruth McGee of Frankford, Delaware; and Seatta Murry of Dagsboro, Delaware; and one sister-in-law, Hellena Brandner of Yuma; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.—Clay County News, Jan. 17, 1991
